Hi everyone, especially Werner.
Can you please check and confirm if the same problem still exists (WiFi network "freezes" if using several TCP connections like torrents, etc). My observation shows it is a problem which observed even after update to the newest SW version as of today (21-02-2012). See details in thread here http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...tid=59266, nothing changed with new SW.
Here it is how the problem looks like - no data transfer, WiFi router CPU load jumps:

And this is only a tiny single thread FTP transfer, see printout below:

The release notes don't mention any performance improvement compared to the last FW were the NM200 still worked, they just state that functionality was restored that was broken in the last firmware release...

Your tests already prove that it is so...
Torrents work great on a multi threaded system with a lot of CPU and memory resources.... to bad a mediaplayer does not have any of those features... Even on my Tablet with WiFi n it's a joke compared to what it does on an 4 your old PC.
In my opinion WiFi on an NMT is for streaming and single treaded file transfer..... and streaming only if you pick a channel not used by your neighbors at over 85DB.
Hi
1. My later mesage in this thread related to single thread file transfer, as you can notice in ftp connection logfile.
2. I have no problem saying torrents are too slow on this device, this realy doesn't matter. The claimed problem is - any WiFi transfer to or from this device "kills" home WiFi network. There is something wrong with my piece of HW or with everyone's SW (firmware). If anyone can check for the same and confirm/not confirm this will be great. My checks show this is PCH device problem, not WiFi router, as the other consumers (PC, MAC, iPad, iPhone etc) works great transferring data at 10-20 Mbps with no problem through the same router.

Better start a thread then requesting confirmation from other user with WiFi on their NMT.
Do you know "Wireshark" it's a nice freeware sniffer that allows you to see what going on on the Ethernet and TCP/IP level of the communication... that is really messing up the network devices...

http://www.wireshark.org/download.html
Thanks I will try but IMHO I will need to have special WiFi card to capture session between router (Host A) and PCH (Host B) when starting wireshark on Mac or PC (Host C), unfortunately my WLAN cards are not so good in promiscuous mode for WiFi, I will see only broadcast from A or B host when listening on C.

If the issues are on Ethernet and IP level they should be transparent for the router. If all looks fine on these levels then the focus is on the WiFi protocol itself... and I agree more difficult to determine... but excluding 2 OSI levels is a big step forward in analyses..
You say "transparent" from wired hub perspective where every packet is mirrored to every port, it is a wireless router switched at L1. I cannot listen direct (not broadcast) L2, L3 communication between other "ports". I would not notice Ethernet or IP problems if for example router is flooded by wrong frames from PCH - this will be seamless for my home grade equipment. I will try of course but it is hard to expect something.
Yeah sorry, I made things more complicated than they are.
Okay, some FTP upload + wireshark tests done, here it is something unusual I see there (*.1.14 - Mac, *.1.202 - PCH C-300) at first on TCP/IP level:
1. Initial TCP receive window is too small 8K only, industry standard now is 64K and more more more. This causes "TCP Window Full" indications. Generally Full Window is not a problem, as it is adjusted after a few ACK's received, the worst here is slow start.
[Image: Screen%20Shot%202012-02-22%20at%207.30.52%20PM.png]

2. Enormous number of DUP ACKs received in the middle of the session, also after retransmitted packet was sent (after DUP ACK#2 received). This could be outcome of the problem (router starts dropping packets both directions, so PCH send DUP ACKs but I don't remember correctly how many of them is it allowed to send by TCP specs)?. [Image: Screen%20Shot%202012-02-22%20at%207.33.20%20PM.png]

I think it worth to move my message(s) to a separate "C-300 +MN-200 = WiFi network down problem" thread, keeping some reference here and joining with (what it seemed to be) "C-300 and Torrent client - home wifi router goes dead" http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...tid=59266. Can anyone do this?

OK I tried the new firmware with one BD title, which used to lose the audio stream the most often before and unfortunately the audio breakup issue still remains... Had such high hopes for this release but allas. I would appreciate if other users shared their experience with BD playback.

did you read the release notes all this firmware fixed was the wifi card issue.

All the A300 posts split out no need to discuss A300 on the C300 release thread.

You might want to soften your tone here. Given the issue was present from day one and it causes a major annoyance to customers who bouhgt the new player one would expected this issue to be adressed ASAP, not kept in the log of known issues. There were two new firmwares releases since I bought my C-300 and the least I could expect is a fix, which will help the player deliver to its basic specifications.

This forum is not the customer service department of any company, it is a user community forum..... acting like "I'm the customer" is bad form.
Don't address the moderators as if they work for a company that sold your a product and owes you support...
We volunteer our support cause we like the community...

Commenting that your audio is still 'broken' when the release notes clearly state they did not fix it.... is.....? well you tell me...
@Dalmo your audio issue is possibly because you have HDMI audio set to ON when in fact you use SPdif for audio to your receiver and HDMI for video to your display.
Don't assume bugs when it could be configuration mistakes.... you would be waiting till hell freezes over for a fix when it was a instant parameter change in a setup.
Start a thread to get some community support on the best setup..

lets reserve this thread for users that do use a WiFi board in their C300 as this patch is clearly for them...

Address you opinions on how PCH should have supported you either directly to them in a email or in a thread you started yourself... not here..

If it wasn't all C300 owners then a previous FW reload would have solved your issue..

It's hard to say as i didn't ask all C300 owners about it. Smile In any case it wasn't just mine because there was already a thread about the issue (with screen shots that looked exactly like my case).

Anyway, others have also reported that this fw has fixed the issue, which is good.

It never makes me happy if they "fix" stuff and don't disclose what they touched.... and assuming nothing got broken in the process..... cause then it will piss me off big time.

I think the line "Jesus, give me strength" IS very mildly said. If anyone do not read what a firmware fix contains, they probably are the same people who Clicks yes to ANYTHING on their computers. Ignorants to the max.

Thanks guys! Smile

Wireless seems to work fine.

Display is actually useful now.

And as an unexpected bonus, my DVD player now works. Prior to the update the system would re-boot when I tried to play any DVDs. Now it works perfectly with both retail and home made.

My Popcorn Hour has come to life!

Code:
Release date : 21 February 2012
Firmware version : 05-01-120118-23-POP-420-000

Known Issues
- BD switching audio track is not stable

hey guys, you know what? this update fixed ALL my audio problems when playing 45 gigabytes bluray directly from folder on my nas.

i had 10 dtshd bluray movies in this format and 4 of them didn't have audio at all unless i changed to "dts downmix" in the audio setup options on my C-300.
i know i know, some might suggest that by changing the audio track from dtshd to another audiotrack and then changing it back would have fixed this issue. problem was my movies have ONLY one audio track...dont ask why...

guess what?

now ALL of them pass DTSHD through passthrough to my denon 3808 and they all work fine!!!

omg this is great!!!!

Darn... another undocumented fix.... or a bad FW load the previous time.

Anyone else to confirm this magical resurrection of BD HD audio playback from folder?
