Best NMT / Options
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help me. I currently have the setup of

1x HP DC7900 USDT which deals with my NZB's and copies them to my NAS box (below)

I then use the Popcornhour to view these.

A-110 PCH + 1.5tb Installed
Linked to my AMP via HDMi

This then has a network link for movies etc direct to:
DLINK323 NAS box + 2x 1tb installed

I am looking to get a nice setup but not over 1k..

What i am asking is: What is the best Media player / Centre / setup i can get with the price above.. I need to consolidate my kit into as little as possible, but most importantly i need my new media centre to be able to download my NZB's. Oh and if it could display the covers of the films i have "made backups of" it would be double +

Any help would be appreciated..

RE: Best NMT / Options
for the absolute smallest footprint your going to want to see if just using the player itself will work out for you. you'll want to get more feedback from those using it. I couldn't really tell you if just updating the drive in the 110 to a 3 or 4 tb would work how you'll like it. I don't personally run that setup.

RE: Best NMT / Options
Well I have yet to get the YAMJ working on the popcorn and will just look at getting that sorted for the kids films upstairs with the internal drive only.

For the main living room i am looking at something completely new.. I looked at the Qnap 4 drive NAS box with the boxee as the media player..

I need something really which shows the covers of all movies on the drives so its easier for the wife n kids to pickup a film n play it..

Thanks for your reply though

RE: Best NMT / Options
The 300 series will display covers easily if you use the standard UI and select thumbnail view. Simply have the cover.jpg in the same place as the file.
It will also search online if you ask it for any missing covers.

Then if that's not enough you can look at using NMJ which is its in-built jukebox.

Have a look here at the UI screenshots and also the videos showing the UI and NMJ etc:-

Thanks for that.. So will it do this via a NAS box setup also ? its just i can change skins etc etc on my current A-110 but the screen differs when using the directories from the external nas box..

I need to be able to view these drives with their pictures etc.. and does the C-300 come with youtube and other online options.

RE: Best NMT / Options
Why don't you check this on the popcornhour website?

PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10
13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central 4TB

The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box

RE: Best NMT / Options
personally I'd go with popcorn + nas. You can download your nzbs via DNS323.

I have DNS323 running nzbget and also C200 running Oversight at the moment.

For current NMTs it is definitely worth offloading downloading to NAS box.

Oversight: Jukebox | FeedTime: Automatic nzbs

Yes the C300 comes with what is known as the Apps Market. There you will find two differing Youtube apps and also as you are from UK the likes of BBC iPlayer. No internet browsing though, who wants that though on a media player as the ports are never that good in any case.

If your files are on a NAS or the local HDD it makes no difference. It is how you setup your files that makes the difference not where they are located.

I find that using RSS feeds and nzbget to download my daily TV stuff fine as it does it whilst I'm asleep. I would not download a full BD for example though as that would be working 24/7 whilst I was also trying to use the player and jukeboxes.
