.mkv and iso sound issue
When i am playing a .Mkv or a blu-ray .iso file from an Internal hard drive. 1 time out of 2 there is no sound... and if i stop the playback and try again with the same file, sometimes after a few tryies the sound will work... what can cause this issue and how can i fix this? my popcorn hour is plugged via HDMI on my 7.1 channel home theatre system.

RE: .mkv and iso sound issue
Sounds like you have the Audio set to Passthrough and your receiver cannot decode it.

Change them to downmix for ones that your reveiver does not support.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

RE: .mkv and iso sound issue
If a stop and restart 'with the same file' resolves it then it's not going to be an incompatible codec.

BluRay ISOs are going to be PCM, DTS, DTS-HD HRA, DTS-HD MA, DD, DD+ (sometime never), or TrueHD, so even if the receiver can't handle a high-res format (and what 7.1 systems with HDMI can't?) then it would be able to take the core track in this particular scenario.

I think a few people have reported this now, from memory, particularly with MKVs.

One thing you could try. When it's playing and you have no sound, switch to a different input on your receiver and switch back a few times to see if you can get it to work. It might give some idea of whether this is an HDMI handshaking issue rather than the PCH just deciding not to send any audio out for some reason.

Also, on the BluRays in question, can your receiver handle the high-res formats or are you needing it to process the core track only (e.g. if it's a Dolby TrueHD track, can you process this or are you limited to Dolby Digital)?

This is the kind of information that will make it easier for the engineers to track down the source of the issue.

Thoughts on Syabas support? Share them here
