A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
Hi all, just taken delivery of my A300 to replace my old A110 and very happy except I've noticed that fast-forward and re-wind don't seem to work on any of my movies (every now and again its ok, but mostly the problem exists).
I have the latest firmware update. Thanks in advance Steve |

RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
What type of video files?
Where are they stored? How are you connecting to them (DLNA/HTTP/uPnP,SMB,NFS)? I have my videos (mostly x264/MKV or BD folders) on a NAS connected by NFS and FF/REW works fine. Samsung PS50P96FD Plasma (ISF Calibrated), Sony BDP-S550, SkyHD, HDMI 4x2 Matrix, Synology 1511+ with DX510 25TB NAS, Onkyo 605 receiver, Kef Q Series speakers QED cables. C200 & A210, A300 1.5TB Internal HDD in each. |

RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
What is the mediainfo for one of the MKV examples that don't FF/REW? MKV is only a container, what is inside can vary greatly, that is why I specified my MKV's are x264...

RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
Read here for info:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...ook_for%3F I bet that for the few files that it does not work that the index is corrupted or that there will besome encoding issue. To find out simply remux the MKV using MKVMerge, part of MKVToolnix, and it will recreate the index plus tell you what is worng if it finds problems in the audio or video streams:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._MKV_to_TS Do not go straight from AVI to MKV if you have xvid/mpeg4 for your video stream. avc is OK but xvid/mpeg4 will have problems. RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
ok thanks chaps.
One more thing, I am having trouble streaming from my NAS (Netgear Duo) via home plugs (this used to work ok on the A110. The NAS allows me to set up services for CIFS/FTP/HTTP/NFS. My (probably stupid!) question is do I need to have the equivalent NMT apps running on the NMT or are they only necessary to "push" out content. I've also read on the WIKI that the best way to stream is via HTTP so how do I ensure that this is the streaming method used rather than for example NFS? Is it simply a case of setting up a share? |

RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
When the first NMT was released http was the fastest and it did matter. With the 200 and 300 it does not matter as any of the protocols will be quick enough to stream 1:1 bluray.
You have powerplugs in there rather than a ethernet cable which is the cause of your problems. Try using NFS or NFS-TCP as NFS is quicker than SMB and also works better with powerplugs. You understanding of how the NMT Apps works is correct. It is not a requirement. However I do find that using the NMT Apps does help in general with the player and its network abilities. Adding the NMT Apps also lets you name your player as you like rather than using the standard name. RE: A300 - Movie timeseek not working via internal hard drive
I have more infor regarding the original problem -
Movies streamed via my NAS drive work have timeseek with time or percentage (remote 1 = 10% etc.) working correctly, but the same file played locally via the internal hard drive have the issue with timeseek with time or percentage (remote 1 = 10% etc.) not working. A couple of other things to note: 1. a get an invalid option icon whenever I try to timeseek 2. bookmarks do not work 3. i get a red "no-entry" icon in the time bar when I have accessed movie information. 4. No problems actually playing movie Thanks Steve |

RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
Hi guys, hast this been resolved at all?
First time posting here on the NMT forum. I just took a delivery of my C-300 a few weeks ago, updated to Feb 2012 firmware, installed a WD 2TB internal HDD and copied across all my media. I've been having exactly the same issue with fast-forward and rewind on almost all of my video files. Just last night was attempting to watch a movie and I could only scan forward at 2x speed, but if I tried anything after that playback would just stop and the system would return the NMJ library. Opening up the video again went right back to the start of the film. Very annoying only being able to scan forward at 2x and not 4x/8x or 16x. Not able to get more mediainfo as am at work, but it was a .avi at least. I think I once was able to scan forward but haven't be able to since. Also the resume playback/bookmark function almost never works for me. I don't have a NAS to stream from so hope there's an easy fix for this? Perhaps I'm missing something here. Will try to get some mediainfo on the video yesterday. Cheers C-300, WD 2TB HDD |

RE: A300 - unable to rewind fastforward
I consistently have a problem with vob files - FF over 2x or 4x and it freezes necessitating a stop and often a re-boot. I use a single vob for each movie ripped using AnyDVD and CloneDVDmobile - Vob passthrough profile. Syabas have replicated this issue for vobs and are looking at a fix. Unfortunately not for the next upgrade, which is apparently due shortly. Can't comment on other containers.
