A-300 remote stops responding after 10-60 mins
Just got my A-300 2 days ago and have found that it stops responding to IR commands after some period of time, generally under an hour. I searched the forums and found that there was a previous user who posted this problem and he was told to update firmware and that would fix the problem, and then the thread was closed and archived.

I did update my firmware yesterday to the latest March 1 version. I have had the problem 3 more times since then, the only way to clear it is to unplug it for a while (I've been leaving it a few hours each time) and then power it on again.

Kind of a frustrating problem given that this model doesn't have front panel controls so once the remote freezes up you're stuck watching the current media until it ends, and then you have to power off the unit for a while to gain any control again (which is short-lived).

is there anything in particular that you do just before or while it happens? might be a new bug your the first to find.

IIRC there is something similar to what you describe with the screen saver and some situations.. try disabling the screen saver in setting and see if that helps

RE: A-300 remote stops responding after 10-60 mins
Generally I am watching a video file when it happens (IE. I'll be watching and want to pause the video for a moment to answer the phone or something and cannot). I have the screensaver enabled but it is not running when the problem occurs. I will try disabling the screensaver though just in case that might help.

You can check your remote by using your cellphone camera.
Just put your phone on camera. aim the lens towards the infrared eye on the remote.
and press a button if you see the red light comin' out of your remote the remote is fine.

Also check for:
- enegery saver lamps (they intervere with infrared)
- mirrors close to the A300.

But again my gues will be the same problem as i am having with my C300.
It just fucking freezes all the time !

Yes I did try the digital camera trick and the remote seems to be sending a perfectly strong signal.

I do have some compact fluorescent lights so I'll have to experiment with turning them off to see if the situation improves. However, I suspect this is really a software issue as even if I hold the remote 1 foot away from the IR receiver, nothing changes.

Actually, I need to add that now that I have been leaving the unit running I am finding the response to IR signals comes and goes while the unit is powered on and typically when it stops responding to IR commands it is during a video.

Another trouble detection trick could be.

Using one of the software remotes.

If you have and android cellphone or apple device.
Download the app. Try it with the app.
If it doesn't work. you will be 100% sure its just the unit that freezes.

if it works good luck with finding out what it is thats jamming up the signal.

ps: i even think there is something like a webremote. you can use trough your browser if you don't own an apple or android device.
A quick google search will get you started.

Using a android or ios remote app wil not tell you if the IR sensor in the unit is the problem or the software what is controlling it.The remote apps control you're nmt thru network.

Compuryan I think it's a heat issue wich is causing a hardware malfunction in the IR section.Maybe when the heat is going high a contact getting disconnect.
Think you have to RMA the NMT.
It is not the software because mine is working fine.

RE: A-300 remote stops responding after 10-60 mins
I have the same thing on the a-300, just new device.
In the beginning everyving was oke but later when it was on for about 8 hours (when watching series) the box suddenly stops and reboot.

Later I try to watch a file and the remote didn't response, first very slowly and then the box only starts up with power plug out and in but the remote don't do anything.

Put new batterys in, new hdmi cable, unplug network, pull out HDD, disconnect all cables, etc. just out of the box right on my TV but no response, can't even browse the standard menu to set it to factory settings.

The box went very hot last days before that I felt without HDD and it was powered down?

Box is unusable right now just bought it, my reseller sayd download newest firmware on usb stick and update but I did that before this latest problems, no differerence so I send it back but the can't find the problem.

I told them use my remote and then they say all my probs and send it to the import center to look at it, still waiting for an answer.

Sayd I want another a-300 but that was impossible they sayd so i'm waiting for the answer right now (missing the box now for 4 weeks) and can take up to 3 weeks above that before the send it back. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
