NZBget, Feedtime, usenet indexers... and my own solution.

NZBget, Feedtime, usenet indexers... and my own solution.
For years, I've happily used NZbget and Feedtime, along with sites like nzbs.org, and nzbmatrix.

Altough everything worked, I always felt everything could be improved. So I decided to tackle this proyect on my own.

I created my own Usenet harverster. Altough it's powered on the backend by newznab (used in hundreds of sites, including nzbs.org), all the front-end (the part the visitor uses) has been created from scratch including some powerful features like:

* Ability to create a list of your TV shows you are 'watching', and have new airings automatically bookmarked for you. (replacing Feedtime funcionality).
* Get a daily TV schedule of your TV shows, so you know what's 'airing' that day.
* Ability to create a list of unreleased movies, so that they will be bookmarked for you automatically when released.
* Full previews with TV/Movie/Games/Music descriptions, along with trailers if available.
* If you're using NZBGet you can configure your public IP address, and have bookmarks 'pushed' (uploaded) automatically.
* Full RSS feeds of your bookmarks, categories and 'your shows'.

And more... The project is fully functional. Adding bells and whistles now, with functionality and requests from current users (friends). I've been using it personally for weeks with zero problems.

If anybody wants to give it a try, I will be more than happy to send you an invite to join. Please PM me.

Inivitation sent. Yes, I was also a big advocate of Feedtime, and Lordy made a great product. (since his nick was ydrol, hehe).

Nothing better than waking up each morning to a fresh batch of TV shows. Yet, lately programs like Sickbeard have been improving functionality, and I am trying to merge functionality 'off-site', on a webpage you can manage from anywhere.

Welcome aboard.

This sounds very interesting!

I'm glad you mentioned Sickbeard because I've been using that for the a while now and it took something of this quality to get me to leave feedtime... so how would say this is better/different to Sickbeard?... or should I just try it? Wink

Can you invite me please?

-----------------

You can remotely upload bookmarks and therefore set downloads from sites like NZBmatrix to the PCH's Nzbget? Is that correct?

RE: NZBget, Feedtime, usenet indexers... and my own solution.
I gathered he is using newznab, so he actually "is" a NZBmatrix.
A question though: Does your harvester get all nzb's or do you filter out certain stuff? For instance "NLsubs" in a name? Because I could use another newznab server which does show nzb's with embedded subs. So i'd like to try it out sometime Big Grin

Invite sent. Right now it works like this.

You have an option called "My Shows" in which you can add a list of all shows you watch. You will see a list of all shows like this:

Basically, at a glance, you will see the cover of the show, the desired quality (SD/HD), and the status of the series (new series, returning series, cancelled, etc). You'll see the name and genre also. And you'll see any upcoming schedule episodes. (date, SSxEE and episode title). New shows for the day will have the word 'new'.

Now... when you 'add' a show, the page knows what the last aired show was... and any new shows after that one, will be bookmarked for you (either for RSS feed download, or to be pushed to your NZBget).

Old shows will not be re-downloaded, since the page know which was the last episode number you downloaded (only proper/repacks are downloaded in case you are interested).

I want to do it like Sickbeard in that you select a show, you will get a list of all seasons and episode numbers, so you can easily re-download (or download for the first time) any past shows.

You also get a daily email, if there are any TV airings that day of your TV shows, with episode descriptions,,,

I am interested too..

Like Atinkler, i'd like to know how this compares to an on-PCH solution like SickBeard/Couchpatato + nzbget..

Yep. Newznab is being used as a backend only. All the customer 'experience' was done from scratch. Newznab does not come with any filters or blacklists by default that I know of. In fact, you could easily glance the embedded subs of release which have them:

Perhaps there's a special newsgroup for files with NLsubs?

You still need a way to get the Bookmarks to your Popcorn.

Either by

1) RSS feed (Feedtime) or
2) direct NZBGet push (by configuring your public IP address, and opening up port 6789 so bookmarks can be uploaded directly).

Well actually they are usually placed in a.b.boneless or a.b.misc . But a lot of sites don't seem to use those groups.

Hmm. Both groups are 'active' right now, and are being harvested, but I don't see many releases at all.

I will investigate.

There is ONE rule only, default: only allow u4all posts in boneless

Perhaps this is blocking NLsubs?

Could be. Is that a releasgroup? 'Cause the "NLsubs" are from a specific other releasegroup.

+1 on that !

I'd like to give this baby a spin too Big Grin

@Cherek
I noticed that some movies with "NLsubs" seem to get index'd as "foreign" by newznab while others are not.

Invite sent. Looking into some SABnzb push functionality as well, sicne some users have that instead of NZBget.

RE: NZBget, Feedtime, usenet indexers... and my own solution.
I've been looking around a bit and the interface is nice and clean and all seems pretty much self explanatory.

Well done !

I've two questions though:
  1. What is the "retention" time of the indexes because most results seem to be fairly new (I couldn't find a movie posted 10 days ago)
  2. Will there be a filter option ? I'd like DOG to only show results with "NLsubs" for my searches.

Thnx again for the invite !
