[split] Files wont play
(03-23-2012 11:26 PM)accident Wrote: To be honest, the gui isn't always exact in this area (and outdated).. it's great for the first run because it makes the couple files you need to get right like where to put the jukebox.. I am back at troubleshooting my problem. Mod - let me know if I should start a new thread ... Here is my story so far ... ---------- OK, got my share issue resolved. I added a share and am able to play every ISO from NMJ from that share. Press enter, the screen goes dark, the dots circle, the screen goes dark and then up comes the movie. Deleted all existing saved paths in YAMJ, looked at playerpath help and my new, corrected, share appeared. I added it. YAMJ is still not stable. Some ISO's play, some the screen goes dark and then back comes the art/info. One movie brought up the circling dots .. that's it, just the dots. I backed out and the dots kept circling. Even when dropping out of YAMJ and accessing other screens .. settings, networked media, etc .. the dots circled. Turn off and turn on (with power button on remote) and the dots still circled. I finally got is to stop by launching a movie via NMJ. Here is my hand-edited My_Library file: <library> <path>J:\PCH</path> <playerpath>nfs://192.168.123.129/j/PCH</playerpath> <exclude name="sample,tmp/,temp/,RECYCLER/,RECYCLE.BIN/"/> <description>templibraryshare</description> <prebuf></prebuf> <scrapeLibrary>true</scrapeLibrary> </library> Thanks, Jeff "The future is already here. RE: [split] Files wont play
Where is the jukebox stored?
I see "nfs" lots of people have issues with nfs. No idea why, might be worth seeing if Samba works better |

RE: [split] Files wont play
I deleted the NFS sharing files and stopped the service. I shared the folder via simple Windows sharing. I edited My_Library to:
<path>J:\PCH</path> <playerpath>smb://192.168.123.129/pch2</playerpath> And re-ran the CMD. I reset the A-300 to factory defaults, found the share with NMJ and added the share. I then reinstalled YAMJ, saw the share in playerpath help and added it via pre-shared. As before, movies will play from NMJ, but not YAMJ. I need to walk away from this this evening and watch some TV. What is next in troubleshooting this? Jeff "The future is already here. It's just not evenly distributed." W. Gibson "I like the future. RE: [split] Files wont play
when you say nmj.. do you mean nmj the hardware and using file lists or nmj the syabas jukebox and you had it scan your media?

RE: [split] Files wont play
As accident says, did you just browse to the share one the interface and play a movie or did you use the built in jukebox NMJ?
Check that the XML for a movie is correctly updated with the new path |

Amongst all of the other computers that show up there is network browser and the PCH2 folder (with my movies and the YAMJ JUkebox). I can play movies by finding the movie folder (in the PCH2 folder) with the browser or go directly to it via the PCH2 folder. I went to the PCH2 folder and then the Movies folder and pressed Add Share. The fields were already populated except for username and password. I entered those and saved. I went to YAMJ and (I am doing fresh this as I post) playerpath help. I located the Share added in the above sequence and wrote down the player path, and entered that as the playerpath in My_Library.xml. That is now <playerpath>smb://[Jeff=czNycmFuMF80MDY1]OFCI7-920/PCH2/playerpath>. I browse the movies on the wall and enter to the movie's info page. At that point pressing enter or play results in the screen going dark for a second or two ... and then the movie info screen returns. Jeff (03-27-2012 08:48 AM)Omertron Wrote: As accident says, did you just browse to the share one the interface and play a movie or did you use the built in jukebox NMJ? I never scanned my movies with the builtin jukebox. I just browse to the share and the movie folders display like in Windows Explorer. Entering a folder shows the ISO as well as some art. I select and play the ISO. All ISOs play fine with this method. Out of the twelve movies I have in my movie folder, three will launch correctly with YAMJ. All others return to the movie info screen after 2-3 seconds. The nine movies that do that and the three that play properly all play OK via the "browse" method I previously described. RE: [split] Files wont play
So Look in the XML for one of the movies that does play and one that does not.
Go down to the bottom and post the contents of the "files" section |

RE: [split] Files wont play
The descriptions you've given sounds like you have the path working, so we need to look at why things are unreliable.
- being able to play it some way other than yamj links is a good sign that it's not an underlying issue - by nmj you mean the native interface so we don't need to worry about the extra memory that their scanner might be using making some rips just not have enough memory. - your using the network browser, which isn't a 1:1 test because it's a ltitle different from going through the network share you created to get to the media. I'm not really sure what difference it might do to how it mounts things I'd have to look into that myself having never used the network browser and looking at the inner workings at the same time. - your mentioning big spinning circles so it sounds like your using rips.. there was a recent default setting changes that if your using mediainfo-rar (comes with the eversion all in one) it might be listing your paths wrong for bluray isos and that's a yamj thing we can fix up quick. I was doing some testing on the possibility of eversion queuing things to play better.. if it's not that last item with yamj paths it might help this.. try looking at the test version of everiion at: http://forum.dentedboxes.com/thread-1431...ml#pid7209 |

At this point I pulled the A-300 from my theater and have it on a test system behind me here in my main computer room. It is a simple matter to make changes in either my PC, the shared PCH or the A-300. RE: [split] Files wont play
The playerpath on the actual files don't match anything you've posted previously that you said you were using.. You really need to post what your real settings are if you expect this to work..
you also ahve 2 completely different playerpaths with one not working.. My guess is right now you have ../Movies as your playerpath??? keep that.. delete your entire jukebox and run my_yamj.cmd to rebuild it.. this should get all your paths matching and get around a current yamj bug with trouble updating new paths on existing movies. |

Lemme review what you have said and step through the process ... somehow in my cutting and pasting a /> was deleted from the playerpath in the my library.xml file ... re-running cmd now "The future is already here. Stop thinking and just do the instructions.. you should have been working a week ago..
Delete the entire Jukebox Folder. Run my_yamj.cmd. Make sure your playerpath is ../Movies first. |

(03-28-2012 09:45 PM)accident Wrote: Stop thinking and just do the instructions.. you should have been working a week ago..Well, no I don't want to stop thinking ... I want to know why something doesn't work. Corrected <playerpath> line in MyLibrary.xml. Deleted Library and re-ran YAMJ.cmd. Reset A-300 to defaults, re-added Share, yadda yadda. All movies now play in YAMJ. MyLibrary.xml - <path>J:\PCH</path> <playerpath>smb://[Jeff=czNycmFuMF80MDY1]OFCI7-920/PCH/</playerpath> Hannah --<fileLocation>J:\PCH\Movies\Hanna (2011)\Hanna (2011).ISO</fileLocation> <fileURL>smb://[Jeff=czNycmFuMF80MDY1]OFCI7-920/PCH/Movies/Hanna%20%282011%29/Hanna%20%282011%29.ISO</fileURL> FWIW, it was never clear .. to me anyway ... how to "share" a file with Samba ... I had to google and google to find that the native protocol in Windoze *was* SMB or "Samba." Nor was it ever clear that I needed to write down the path that appeared in "Eversion Only" playerpath help, and then enter it into the playerpath line of code in the YAMJ MyLibrary/xml file. Maybe I missed it somewhere ... I am not placing fault anywhere ... just saying what my experience was. If I had the time, I'd create a Dummies guide for this ... Jeff "The future is already here.
