Run NMT Apps Off NAS
Howdy,

Is anyone currently running NMT apps off a file share off their NAS?

I've tried to make this work by reading a bunch of threads/Wikis but I'm getting stuck at certain points.

Wondering if anyone is currently doing this so I can bug ya with some questions regarding how you were able to set it up.

Thanks.

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
Why would you want to do this? The NMT apps are supposed to be installed on a local internal/external drive. Even if you managed to install them on a NAS I doubt the PCH would be able to access them from the NAS.

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
I ultimately don't need the drives other than the apps. They can be a bit noisy and hot at times.

There's the USB alternative method and the NFS Share alternative method as per the NMTWiki.

I believe the latter will allow me to run off a NAS which is what I'm trying to accomplish (if possible).

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
If you succeeded with the NAS install, wouldn't there be further complications if for whatever reason the NAS was offline/unreachable?

You don't say which PCH you have but would be far simpler to install apps on a cheap 4GB USB stick and plug it into a rear USB port out of the way.

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
Which apps are you trying to keep??? This thread seems very strange as nas's generally can run a whole lot, updated and run them better.. There's really nothing on the pch you can't just find or find better options for a nas.

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
I ultimately just need myiHome for one of the Jukeboxes I'm using.

I'm using both an A100 and an A110.

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
Can you use USB for the 100 series? Dont think you can.

You would be best with a SATA>CF card for silent operation.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

I don't know much about myihome, but it would help to know the make and model of the nas.

What jukebox software?? myihome is just a slightly enhanced http streaming server.. you may not need it at all depending on the software.

RE: Run NMT Apps Off NAS
I don't know much about it or if this is the only way to do this.. hopefully someone will be by to get into a more specific discussion about options with that nas and the 100. only thing I can think of is post in the jukebox thread about what your trying to do and get more experts with it to chime in.
