C-200 Network unstable
Hello
I have used my PCH C-200 for more than 2 years now and have had no major problems with it. Nothing I could not solve by help from this forum. However yesterday I discovered a problem I dont like. It seems that the network (wired) connection is getting perodic unstable. I loose the connection and I have run a ping monitor software to monitor it and suddently the respons is getting slow and also timed out. When I reboot it works for some time and then it starts again. I turned the unit completely off during the night to see if it was a heat problem and it then worked for a while again until the same thing started to happen. Unstable ping respons and timed out. The unit is connect through switch and routers but I have tried a direct connection from my laptop to the PCH C-200 also and the same thing happened even then so I dont think this has anything to do with the network switch or router. Could this be a serious harware problem on the network part of the C-200 or could it be a software problem on the PCH ??? Anyone have any experience in this problem here ??? Thanks. ************************************** Yamaha RX-V633 OPPO DV-980H Sony Sattelite Speakers ATEN HDMI switch PCH C-200 QNAP TS-410 MEDION 32" LCD TV |

RE: C-200 Network unstable
this is going to sound weird but try a factory reset of the pch.. sometimes there's corrupted settings or old settings if you've updated firmware since the last reset that get repaired with a simple factory reset. dont' forget to write down your settings, especially those for network shares. some of the bug fixes actually take different default settings which you won't get just updating the firmware.
network cables also go bad over time.. especially if you've suddenly moved it |

RE: C-200 Network unstable
Okay...it might be worth trying.
What will I loose by doing a factory reset ? Only the settings and not what I have on the hdd I hope ? I have replaced the network cable from the C-200 to the switch with a complete new one and this is also the cable I used when I connected directly to my laptop so I think the cabling should be okay. After a factory reset I guess I just have to update the firmware to the latest release again ??? I need to be prepared of what to do before I descide to do this :-) ************************************** Yamaha RX-V633 OPPO DV-980H Sony Sattelite Speakers ATEN HDMI switch PCH C-200 QNAP TS-410 MEDION 32" LCD TV |

RE: C-200 Network unstable
Factory reset just resets all configuration setting you have made or was discovered to the default. this does not change the FW version or HDD content...

RE: C-200 Network unstable
Thank you.
I restored to factory setting and changed back to my custom setting and now it has pinged during the whole night and day without any loss at all. 100 % uptime :-) and I am satisfied :-) Thank you. By the way....is the C200 capable of showing 3D movies ? I have a few and I have ripped them via DVDFab as a 3D movie but I am not sure C200 is able to show them ??? Do you know ?? Thanks...I found the answere on the 3D myself on the popcornhour homepage :-) ************************************** Yamaha RX-V633 OPPO DV-980H Sony Sattelite Speakers ATEN HDMI switch PCH C-200 QNAP TS-410 MEDION 32" LCD TV |
