I can scan a drive but cant play anything on it

I have a pretty stable system thats been running for over a year now. It consists of an HP EX495 nas, a c200 and an A200. Both popcorns have internal drives attached as well. The one issue I still have is I cant play the content on the opposite popcorn but both play all off the nas.

Well I thought id try something and add a 2tb external usb to the nas. I got yamj to scan the usb drive with no problem, but I cant play anything on it from either player.

Does this fall under the multimount issue as well that I have with the 2 popcorns, or should I be able to play anything thats attached to the the nas on both popcorns?

And anyone know when or IF the multimount firmware will ever happen? I have only been waiting for about 1.5 years and not as long as many of you out there. It frustrates me that they have yet to rectify this proplem, but still produce updated hardware.

You seem to have 2 issues.

1. Each internal drive in each seperate PCH will be seen differently path wise (even if you share the drive out). The drive in the C200 will be seen as the normal internal drive path to the C200 but an external mount to the A200. The same for the internal drive in the A200 would be internal to the a300 but an external mapped share to the C200. Sot the YAMJ config would work for one and not the other etc.

2. Yes, it is also the multimount issue. Each player would have a NAS share and an external share mapped (you can ignore internals as thee work anyway). However as in point 1, the internal in 1 PCH is seen by another PCH as an external!

Solution(s)

Don't use the internal drives for your films, put on either the expanded NAS or add to NAS as USB (so BOTH PCHs see the drive as external) and add as an extra Libraray. You could then use YAMJ with Eversion which has special config options to allow multimounts and specific paths for each PCH MAC address if required.

The last option is waiting for multimounts.... but you still need to ditch the internal drives for your media.

how did you add the usb drive to the whs? did you use the console to add it to the drive pool or is it a completely separate drive?

I added it as a seperate drive. I know I can add it to the pool but one, im kinda worried out that being it is external and could be unplugged or something could happen, and two, I like to be able to take it off, bring it to the PC and do the copying there and any changes if that makes sense.

Do you have any idea when the multimount firmware will be available? Or is this just a dream for most of us? I would just like to have it done automatically vs using the CSI or other addons. Also I have tweaked the smoked glass PPP3 to what I like and it looks GREAT to me, less a few things I would like.
