Twit App
So it looks like the Twit app is no longer functioning on the PCH. I cannot see it in the apps market anymore and when I load it on my A-200 it now says "Empty Channel." Can anyone else confirm that Twit is dead on here? If so, just a massive disappointment.

Yes, the TWIT is dead because of MediaFly. Don't expect anything from the NMT folks or TWIT for that matter. NMT isn't even on TWIT's radar.

My suggestion would be to purchase a ROKU HD 2 for about $70. You get TWIT, REV3, etc. You even get Live TWIT that actually works - great for Live CES coverage, etc. You also get HBOGO, etc. Also, now with the new PLEX app for Roku you can stream from your local network just like NMT.

I've owned a A-110 and now A-300. Frankly, I've been very disappointed by NMT's attention to support and never fixing real bugs. For example, the long running Encrypted Header bug present in all downloaded TV shows, the bug when the A-300 is in Screen Saver and you press a button and the unit turns off, etc. NMT just seems clueless. The lack of major apps HBOGO, WSJ Live, etc. Their NMJ is a joke. It couldn't even complete a pass of my movie drive. Plex with Roku did one pass and got 99% correct. At this point Plex plus Roku just works!

I've given NMT my money, I hoped they would step up to the plate. The A-300 will probably be the last NMT I buy. I just ordered my second Roku HD for $69.

I think I see the future.

RE: Twit App
The Roku is great and cheap and works for internet streaming better than the NMT. However that's where it stops, but if internet TV is your main purchasing point it may be all you require.

The encrypted header is not an issue on the 100, 200 or 300 series. So what you are on about here I do not know.

You may be referring to header compression in MKV files but that was resolved ages ago. The only NMT's that do not do header compression are non PCH 100 series models from OEM suppliers who stopped updating. The 100 is EOL now being 4 years old since its launch and will not get any more updates.

Yes, my mistake, it is the header compression I speak of and it is alive an well on my up to date firmware A-300. I can take any recent xvid or mp4 downloaded tv show and the file as downloaded it will not play on my A-300. I load the file in MKVmerge set the streams to Header Compression none and remux and suddenly they play fine on the A-300. I have to remux every downloaded tv show in order for the A-300 to play.

You totally ignored my point about the Plex Media Server which allows the Roku to play local network based media using the new Plex app for Roku. At this point the Roku just works. So Roku does essentially everything the NMT purports to do but with a lot less hassle.

And what about the Screensaver bug? Will that ever get fixed?

RE: Twit App
All my downloaded tv shows xvid and mp4 play just fine so you must have another issue going on, I never run anything through mkvmerge not to mention mp4 nor xvid/avi have header compression in there formats so maybe you need to start another thread explaining your issue as you are just saying things that would not even matter as header compression is not possible with the formats you are talking about,

plex/roku while is a nice combo has its down falls for certain people, it sounds like you have some basic media needs which is why it suits you well. it does have issues with subtitles, and there is no bitstream of audio format, 2 channel audio, I know there is a 5.1 tweak but as far as i know its not 100%. And any audio format that plex has to downmix then goes to roku of HLS and a lot of people are getting pixelation

RE: Twit App
I watch every day at least a dozen downloaded scene releases on my A300. I only have to 'fix' any that are mp4/mkv and have AAC audio. So only around 20% presently but enough to be annoying but nothing like every file that you claim.

Are you sure that the 300 mp4 files you have problems with are not AAC audio? mp4/mkv with AAC audio is causing the 300 to crash.

Header compression is fixed on the 200 before the 300 was launched. The 100 then got an update to enable playback of header compression. Here with the 100 you may be thinking of some xvid scene releases that have issues with zero byte in their headers. Its out of spec and a remux using avimuxgui i'll fix it in seconds.

I ignored plex as NMJ is inbuilt into the offical firmware of the 300 series and is not an addon. It's also not something that i'm totally familiar so I would not comment on it.

RE: Twit App
We released a TWiT app for Popcorn Hour and PopBox V8. The V8 version supports TWiT Live if you have the latest firmware. Once the HLS code is added to the 300 series it will support the live stream as well.
