Subs and Blu Ray folder....
Can someone confirm I have this right please as the subs for a movie wasn't working.
I have Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol which is a Blu Ray in the usual BDMV folder structure. It has subs, but the English subs are for the full movie and not just the non English speaking parts. So I downloaded a few different srt files for non speaking English parts, called them exactly the same as the parent folder for the movie and then placed it in the first folder down. This is right yeah? In the past I would notice the external subs to be selected via the subtitles button but it's not there and not working. I've rebooted of course. And subs are turned on in settings. Confused. |

RE: Subs and Blu Ray folder....
That would be fine if the movie was a single file which it is not.
BDMV is a playlist of files and has instructions for subtitles. I think there was something about letting an external .srt file play with a BD SIO not sure it also went to BDMV though. What you want are what is known as forced English subtitles, just the parts where you need a translation, spekaking and signs. Use makeMKV on the Ghost BDMV folder. You'll then end up with one MKV file. Call that the same as the srt fiel and it'll work fine. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: Subs and Blu Ray folder....
Although it is in the BDMV structure, there was only 1 mt2s file, not the usual 40 or 50.
If I do use makeMKV, it won't compress the file will it, just add the subs? I don't want to lose any quality. I did download some subs just for the non English speaking parts, I assum those are the same as the forced subs u mentioned. Thanks for your reply. :-) |

RE: Subs and Blu Ray folder....
make an iso file from that bluray folder and store that iso file and the sub file (srt) in the same folder. make sure they have the same name and i think it will work.
im using ImgBurn for making iso file from bluray folder. |

RE: Subs and Blu Ray folder....
Tested and confirmed on A-300:
[Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol which is a Blu Ray in the usual BDMV folder structure] +[external sub in .srt format] The external sub can be selected and works fine. Folder/file placement is like: Mission-Impossible -------- a folder containing BDMV/CERTIFICATE folders |---BDMV |---CERTIFICATE Mission-Impossible.srt ----- an external sub file Did the same testing on A-200. Very funny but it would not work. "external" cab be selected via "SUBTITLE" button, no subtitles appear on the screen. Saying moreover, forced English subtitles works on A-300 but not on A-200(not working on A-200 at least for the Blu-ray mentioned). |
