Incredibly slow network speeds
I just got a new A-300 and I am using it to replace a Netgear NeoTV550. I'm basically unplugging the network cable from the Netgear and plugging it into the PCH so I know the network connection is good.
I first noticed the speed seemed to be slow when it took about 45 minutes to download the firmware update. It is finding all the shared directories fine but the speed is incredibly slow. It takes 30 seconds or longer for a <1 mb picture to display. Small AVI files take a minute or so to start and stutter significantly and forget 1080p mkv files. Is there something wrong in the way I have installed it or does the network connection my PCH have something wrong with it? Media on the USB port plays without a problem. Thanks |

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
It may help if you provide some additional detail about your network configuration. Have you tried giving the PCH a fixed IP? It sounds like it's spending time negotiating with your network.

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
Nothing fancy. My storage is on a PC drive and the PC and the PCH are both hooked up to a ASUS RT-N56U router.
The PCH gets an IP assigned by the router. Do I need to go in and specify one manually? |

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
Reboot the router and let it rediscover the A300.
PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB, 2 Seagate Central 4TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
I believe the router is capable of gig but I think the network card in the PC is 10/100. I have Windows 7 64 bit and am using Samba sharing.
Rebooting the router didn't work and I changed the TCP Receive Window to 32000 and that hasn't seemed to help either. I've have used a number of network streamers (NeoTV 550, PBO, WDTV, Micca 350) on my network and none of them have been as slow as the PCH is acting right now. |

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
Downloading a firmware update has got naff all to do with your internal LAN speeds.
Try this: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._Static_IP At 22MB/s via gigabit none of the others can touch the 300 series for network speeds. However as your PC is 100/10 you'll have to make do with 12MB/s. I double checked and I do have gigabit and I've measured my internal network in the mid to high teens in MB/s. If I set the PCH on a static IP, do I have to set everything else on the network on a static IP as well? |

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
No you can just set as many devices as you want to static ip's. Personally I would start with your A300 and your PC.
It's a good way to extend your network knowledge getting to know a little more about ips, internal ips, subnet, gateway, etc. If you are getting high teens MB/s on gigabit then that is the max unless you do the RWIN tweak. I did it and it upped my speed from 16MB/s to 22MB/s. RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
Set the static IP's and it's still doing the same thing.

RE: Incredibly slow network speeds
Got an RMA and got a new unit. The new one works perfectly. Thanks to everyone for their help.
