For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
I am disappointed with my purchase of c-300. It does not do too much more than my old A-100.

nmj, flash apps, the hybrid jukebox are all things not found in your a100.. did you check the manual.. the a300 manual is valid for the whole 300 series line (they should rename it)
As far as 3d bluray isos that should not have been a surprise, it's posted a lot around here how sigma doesn't make a single chip that could play them and it's not listed on the website as specs for what the c300 can play.. |

RE: For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
It plays BD ISO and BDMV which your A100 doesn't.
Check the spec of the chip to see how much more cpu power the newer chip has. Then there's RF remote, double SATA sockets and internal USB, bluray license, colour front TFT screen, etc. etc. The C300 is around 4 times the size of the A100. Why did you go for a C series if you dont value the difference over the A series? You could have got the A300 for $219. Is your only purchase decision whether Full 3D BD ISO is supported? If it is you didn't do your research. There is a C300 manual for download if you are looking for more on NMJ and the differences. http://files.syabas.com/popcornhour/down...Manual.pdf A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

Slowly I am getting used to the machine. NMJ is pretty cool. With the BDISO and BDMV I am running out of storage space pretty fast though

For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
Because, what other $400 networked mediaplayer can? PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |

RE: For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
there seems to be couple of them, I did not research before purchasing, I just needed another player and since I was happy with my old popcorn hour I just ordered their newest model. but there seems to be some machines that can play (they talk about dune and himedia) and in the same price range if there are other machines that can play I thought c-300 should have been able to play it too.
so what 3d media types can we play? only half sbs or is there any other format? |

RE: For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
Dune wont be able to play 3D.
The only one I saw last time I looked was the Realtek himedia thingy which is far cheaper than $400. Price is irrelevant in terms of 3D Full Resolution playback. Realtek chips have always been cheap but not as good for quality of picture as Sigma chips. So watch better quality none 3D or watch poorer quality for all of your stuff with a Realtek chip player. realtek chips are turn-key as well so a handful of peeps can setup a company and market a player. You have to consider the after sales and general R&D and customer base and not just look for the latest thing or you'll always be dissatisfied and moving on and on and on........... You can play half resolution SBSD or TAB files using the 3DMKV container. Passing fad this 3D thing if you ask me. RE: For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
I purchased the Oppo-bdp 93 for the 3D play back last week. Does a nice job playing the 3d content but for the 2D stuff PCH c-300 looks superior with the NMJ and streaming functionality.

RE: For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
Thanks for reporting back.
It's a shame that OPPO has cutback its networking abilities as now on that model you are reliant on USB/eSATA. Where the OPPO scores is in its 3D picture plus video/audio options and where the NMT scores is NMJ and networking abilties. Also userapps in terms of the likes of YAMJ, CSI, Eversion, etc. developed by owners. OPPO make great bluray players. They are more expensive and with the lack of internal storage options plus points above the C300 would be my choice for value. Interesting that you prefer the picture of the Sigma to the Marvel chip. Is that both SD and HD or only HD? I like HD but find SD picture quality of the Sigma not as good as i'd like. I meant pch is superior in funtionality (nmj, samba connection to any shared folder) where with oppo it is only scrolling thru the list of movies and does not see the shared folders (or at least I could not figure out so far). Picture is crystal clear on both machines. I only watch HD.

I bought a Oppo BD-P 93 to go along with my PopcornHour C300 and I'm happy for both products. The Oppo can play 3D BD-iso from a USB or E-Sata external drive. But the movie company's just forced Oppo to remove this feature, it seems to be illegal. Warning if you own a Oppo BD-P 93 bluray player do not upgrade it to a newer firmware. The new firmware is removing the capability to play 3D BD-Iso's and there is no warning. I know that was the only reason I got the Oppo-bdp 93 and the firmware was the first thing I checked after receiving the package.

I have the C200 and think the same...no big deal about the new C300.
3D Blurays should have been included. Video: Samsung UE40D8000 - Samsung LE40B650 Console: XboX360 Multimedia: iPad 3 64GB 4G - iPhone 4 - Popcorn Hour C-200 |

RE: For almost $400 C-300 should have been able to play 3D Bluray Iso's
So we conclude..... there is no below $400 Network Media player, with the same quality and features as a C-300 that does 3D, on the market today?
Or is there? please provide a link...
