Is there bit rate limitation for H264 video on the PCH A200?
Hi

I have some problems with video files from my Smartphone.
it's seams to be the bit rate that is too hight??
the original Bit rate is 17 Mbps
the movie freeze some times, to have a good view I need to decrease the bite rate lower than 15Mbps.

My movies are h264 encoded in 1080p.
Is there a limitation with the A200 hardware and what is this limit???
Do you think that the A300 hardware is more and enought powerfull to read this kind of file???

that isnt even close to the limit. to give an idea avatar movie is 45Mb/s it should play that no problem. but being from a phone and inside mp4 could be your problem. see what happens if you remux the file to mkv without changing bitrate

As i know, the bit rate of H.264 video on PCH A200 should be at least 40Mbps ...

DVD to MP4 on Lion OS X .

RE: Is there bit rate limitation for H264 video on the PCH A200?
Ok.

I made some test this week.
My files was on a network media server and it seams that for video with high bit-rate (>20mbs)the problem is the network transfer speed. because when the same files is on the local hard drive of the popcorn it work fine.

I made other test with the same film encoded with different setting of the H264, and it seams that the problem is not really the output bit-rate, but mostly the choice of the algorithm complexity.
The codec level and the image key setting.

I notice that if I reduce the images number between 2 images key so we have more images key => THE VIDEO IS MORE FLUID
may be because the popcorn have less job to calculate and rebuild images???

You just give your answer. Your network is not fast enough to stream the video for some reason. I have level 5.1 with 18 refrrames that i stream just fine to my pch.

Not sure if this will help in your situation or not but I posted this thread http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=49277 a while ago that fixed the issue I was having with high bitrate files. After changing the receive window I haven't had a single problem with even the highest bit rate files I throw at it. Maybe it will work for you too, good luck.

RE: Is there bit rate limitation for H264 video on the PCH A200?
Thank you I will try, but where can I set the receive window???
Is it a pch param?

@halfelite
I export ma video from adobe premiere with the adobe media encoder (no other choices) that it work with the mainconcept h264 encoder.
what ever I set into the "distance between keyframes" param I always have an output file with refFrame = 3 images?

What the refFrames is about?

How can I set it?

RE: Is there bit rate limitation for H264 video on the PCH A200?
@tman12, thank you
setting the network speed to auto solve 80% of my problems.
Now videos with bit rate > 20 mbs are readable from the network.
I have only video slowdown as the bit rate increases rapidly.

I have found where to set the receive window (it appears when I change to auto) so I will test your value and may be others...
