RE: USB ports not working properly
Figures I talked about a thread and it happened to be the same thread
so much for reading the read before replying. As users, we only are able to say a specific drive isn't working when everyone starts posting about that drive. If you were using a 3TB or 4TB drive then I would agree many others have posted the same problem. But your on a 2tb drive.. this issue is odd. especially with willem helping since he has more usb drives than most countries connected at the same time. I would first make sure you update support and tell them the replacement is worse. My only other thought is see if a friend or work can loan you a different drive to test with. |

RE: USB ports not working properly
I've had the same problem. C300 will not recognize a working external HD. I had the unit replaced and the new unit worked well until I updated the firmware. Then same problem returned.
One thing that seems to work - whilst the HD is plugged in, I plug in any USB thumb drive and suddenly both are recognized and useable. I've logged a support ticket about this issue. |

Then same problem returned. This is exactly the same issue I got. It is obviously something to do with the design of the machine? E.g. design/assembly flaw? Streamaster replaced my first unit as it was dead on arrival. The second new unit worked with my 2 TB WD deskto HDD but gradually taking longer to load it up until it did not load up anymore. Both Trommer and I are in Australia.. I'm wondering if the Australian C300's were built locally here in Australia and there is a fault in the assembly? Too much coincidence that we are having exactly the same issue... that can't be denied. |

RE: USB ports not working properly
I'm sure the Aussie units are fully imported.
The other issue I have is that it will always forget its Internet connection when I use the long press shut down with the power button. The power unit is too noisy and I am reluctant to leave it on the short press, output off only setting. Every time I reboot I have to go through the Internet connect wizard and reconnect. For some time I've been unable to get it to play any iso files - I either get a totally black screen or it gets hung up on the menu screen. (normal DVD iso, stored on internal HD). Then yesterday the files that refused to play suddenly played again - I had not changed anything. Maybe the boot up sequence loaded differently that one time? |

Every time, after I power on the device and it boots up the dongle is not recognized and I have no internet connection. I have small WD USB drive that I plug in for a second, it gets recognized and it makes the wifi dongle to be recognized as well. Then I have to go through internet settings again, EVERY TIME... It's so annoying. (Actually what I did is I wrote the instruction for myself how to go through internet connection without a screen: press green button, down, enter, green button etc so I don't have to turn on my projector every time I turn on C300 to access it over network. I don't have TV and C300 LCD display is....don't even make me start on that) |

RE: USB ports not working properly
Has anyone came up with more on this?
I JUST got my c-300 and have a pre-loaded 3tb internal hard drive in ntfs format loaded with blueray movies. I wanted to load the apps and the nmt software to the a 8 gig usb stick drive. The only issue is, i cant get the USB ports on the front or the rear to read anything. I tried a keyboard to various other usb media. Tried everything here on forums and opened a support ticket on the popcorn hr site 2 days ago but have heard nothing back. This thing is pretty much worthless to me now because i cant do anything with it but watch already loaded movies directly from the harddrive. i tried using another blank 1tb WD internal hard drive to multi partition it, but when i try to format it to instal the nmt software the c300 freezes at 0% for ever. i even left it on for 3 hrs and it stuck at 0% Can anyone please help me, because im feeling this product has fairly poor testing and from what im reading there are alot of people with the USB issue. any ideas ? I also downloaded the latest firmware right when i got started. Then i went back into setup and went back to factory default and tried again |

RE: USB ports not working properly
I am having similar problems also.
I am pretty sure the USB ports are just not powering up (No 5v) If I plug in the internal HDD it sometimes kicks off the USB and everything is good again. The internal USB always works though. I will test some more and report back. |
