[NMJ v2] No Content NMJ

After much mucking about (so much for PCH being easy!) I have gotten the Network Browser working properly, but I cannot seem to get the NMJ working.

I can select the folders I wish to add to the NMJ.

The folders scan (very quickly) and the folder displays with an S on it.

However, when I access the NMJ it tell me that there is "No Content"

Checking the PC I can see the nmj_databse which holds a small "media" file of about 105kb and several folders, all of which are empty.

The files are stored on a ReadyNAS Duo with full Read/Write via a hard wired network. Access is through NFS. All files play and show artwork correctly when using the Network Browser.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, expecially since I purchased the PCH for its NMJ.

Try creating NMJ with SMB instead of NFS. I had problems with NFS, too. For some NFS works well and for some, like you and me, not. I don't know why.

I get the same sometimes even with stuff I've transfered from ex HDD by USB

sometimes it there and other times it says no content

it's related to NMJ and the database as if i look in the folders over the network can see the data there, sometimes a re-scan will show it up

It is more likely related to the filter you have on the left handside menu. Make sure you select Video, Music,All etc. and not say Photo if you do not have any photo's. If you have no photos then it'll say no content no matter whether you have 1000's of mp3 or video files if the filter is set to Photo.

To change the filter press enter to cycle through.

but i get the same sometimes stuff just doesn't show up in browser but its there if you netwrok across to the A-300 share, the folders show up but not the content so you'll see the movie folder or music folder but when you enter it says no content yet its clearly there if you look at drive in other ways

it's got sumit to do with the NMJ as if you scan it sometimes comes back, I also got it back by entering the scan mode but not actaully scanning just going back into source - it's as if the main file index is linked to the NJm database if it's not in the database then source cant see it either

yet everything in the database is accessible with np

It's a bit confusing the first time you get it as your not sure whats happened but once you know it all there just hidden in some way

I'm having the same issue with my a-300 and getting no content or just showing 3 files from a total of 200 files. Have managed to get YAMJ to work through my network but still would like to work out why my popcorn hour jukebox manager is not working - the reason I bought it is for this function. I'm using compact flash card as the internal drive.

Make sure that if you are scanning a network share that you try SMB

Make sure that you are using HD output in Video

Make sure that your network share is not Read Only. If it is then the player should tell you this and ask you if you want to save on your internal storage. If it does not then the player is not finding any writable local storage.

Make sure that you are not using any server software to access your files. No upnp, mulitmedia server apps on your NAS or PC.

Make sure that you do not have any special characters in your folder names. apostrophes say 'mp3's' should be 'mp3'.

Mines using the internal 2tb drive

no funny characters in name either - also it's not a share or permissions related thing, as it's an internal drive

in fact the files that dont show on 300 but are visible across the network, havent tried actually playing one but it'll bet it would work because as soon as 300 see's em they play fine

it's related to the NJM because i never had this happen till after i scanned for jukebox - and scanning seems to put this right not sure how the database manages to hide the files when you look in source mode but it does

@ Gypsy: Your earlier post confused the heck out of me. I think you should have your own thread as your issue sounds like it requires some more detailed help and therefore more detailed information from you. It also sounds like you may not be accessing NMJ correctly or using the UI in a different way, that's why I'm confused and need more detail.
PM your thread link and I'll be happy to have a try to help you alone.

@ Others : Get a USB stick or HDD and put the NMJ Test data on it. It's on the forum somewhere. If you can't find it dont worry just put a few small video files, couple of albums and few photos on it.

Then scan and see if that scans and creates the database fine. Do not access it with NMJToolbox or any other userapps at first as they can have issues at times.

It's not really a problem as i know what to do now but thanks for the help and advice
