New A-300 Internal SSD ?
I just got a new A-300. Itjust arrived a few days back. My movies are all in 2/3 tb internal drives. I usually plug them into a dock which connects through USB or esata into the NMT.
Do I need an internal drive ? I was thinking of using YAMJ with eversion as I have many drives and connect them individually so I dont have any naming issues. So in that case i thought ill keep my library updated with an interal hd. Would it make a difference if the internall hdd was a SSD ? If so what size and which one would you recommend. Thank you for reading. Please reply if you can help. |

RE: New A-300 Internal SSD ?
I wouldn't waste that kind of money on a device that can't use it.. usb thumbdrive is good enough for nmt apps when your videos are on other drives.. That's if you ened nmt apps.. some like running pchtrakt for yamj auto-watched support and others like putting the jukebox on the local "drive" for a little more interface speed.
Otherwise your setup doesn't even need a drive. Also if your looking to swap drives for separate yamj jukeboxes for what is on that drive, it's overkill since you have the drive directly connected already. |

RE: New A-300 Internal SSD ?
I have a 60Gb OCZ Vertex Plus SSD. It was £50 and I only wanted a small size as my archived video files are on my NAS and I use the space for daily TV direct downloads. My favourite TV shows are automatically downloaded for watching.
The WIKI has a A300 compatibility page with this detail on. Remember to checkout the WIKI and help keep it updated everyone. Thank you for the replies.
I was thinking of using a small internal ssd to store my Yamj-eversion jukebox. All my archived movies are in different drives which i would swap into the hdd dock depending on the movie i wanted to watch. I wanted to know if an internal SSD would speed up the jukebox. |

RE: New A-300 Internal SSD ?
it might but is it worth the cost of the ssd faster I really couldn't tell you.
I know 1 user who likes to do a similar setup and they keep 1 jukebox per drive.. using relative paths it's really easy for them to just have 1 yamj setup and run it when the drive is attached to the computer to update it. The jukebox is stored on the actual drive. of course you can't see your whole collection for something you might be interested in watching on another drive which your single local stored jukebox would allow |

RE: New A-300 Internal SSD ?
I dont think you would see any appreciable speed by using a SSD over anything else. I've not noticed any difference between using USB and a laptop HDD and using the SSD is reliable and quick but you may get same from a class10 microsd or some other silent storage.
My A300 is at the foot of my bed. So even a laptop HDD I can hear. That's why SSD with storage in excess of 32Gb is what I wanted. The price of a very larger 32 or 64Gb microSD card is similar to the price of a 60Gb SSD. I went for a SATA2 SSD not SATA3 as the difference between the two can not be accommodated by the players chip power. Plus I could see a lot of laptop users changing to it rather than SATA3. RE: New A-300 Internal SSD ?
I use a small OCZ SSD as internal storage for A-300. It hosts two NMJ db (one for video and the other for music). My shares are NFS on external NAS. I use SSD mainly because it is quiet, quite inexpensive and it makes faster NMJ behaviour. Pay attention on interface, several newer SATA III SSD are not fully compatible with A-300 SATA II interface. I had to downgrade my OCZ (SATA III model) replacing it with an older SATA II model.
