A300 Win7 ulitmate network shares
Ok
I have two WIN7 ultimate machines running on a home network. I have one machine dedicated for movies and music and it has about 6 internal drives. All my folders containing media have been shared on the home network. The media machine (we will call it M1) has a guest account activated and I have added guest account read write to at least one of my shared folders for a test. pass word protected network sharing has been turned off and all other net work discovery and share printers files has been turned on. My A-300 has been set up statically and when I enter setup and go to network shares I can see my workgroup and when I browse it I see both computers names and the A-300 but when I attempt to browse the M1 it asks for User Name and password. I have tried entering the admin name and pass for M1 with no luck. can anyone point me to how to set this up? I have read the Vista share guide but the link to WIN7 guide is blank.

Well no matter what I can not browse my shares from the workgroup. I was however able to add them with IP address and share folder name. Can anyone point me to info on configuring the A-300 for Dolby TrueHD? I have configured all Audio for Pass through and HDMI audio is on however it only seems to be sending analog as the TRUEHD symbol is not lighting up on my receiver and its defaulting to Stereo or 7 channel stereo.

RE: A300 Win7 ulitmate network shares
I'm running Win7 ultima also ... can you browse the A300 from M1?

As for Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD-MA, Pass through and HDMI audio=On should do it, what receiver are you using?

PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10
13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB

The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box

Yep W7 Ultimate here on 2 desktops and 2 laptops.

You are going to have to supply more detail and put some more effort into your post. We don't know anything about your network setup, your NMT settings, etc.

Guessing from your block of text, split your post into sentance/paragraphs its easier to read and gets you more replies therefore, I would say that you have not set the permissions correctly on your shared folders.
WIKI link updated.

Was getting late I will have to get you guys more info this afternoon. If you can maybe point me to a post where someone provides exactly the technical info you are looking for that might help.

I remotely access my M1 machine from my computer down stairs. I can see the a300 shown as a computer in my network devices however if i click on it I get a popup that states "windows can not access \\A300"

RE: A300 Win7 ulitmate network shares
System:
Two WIN7 ultimate machines (wired)
One Mac book pro connected (wireless)

My house is wired with a ATT Uverse modem at the distribution box upstairs. My M1 machine and the Downstairs (M2) are connected directly to the gateway modem (AT1).

I have a ASUS RT-N56U downstairs configured as a access point that serves as my living room hub. My TV, Playstation, and A300 are connected to the RT-N56U which is wired to AT1.

All Computers and Devices have static IP addresses with the IP address of AT1 as their Default gateway and DNS address.

My M2 machine is the primary browser. I use it to remotely connect to the M1 machine.

Both the M1 and M2 machine are in a home network with all network settings per the guide (i.e. “network discovery on”, Printer file sharing on, password protection off, yada yada).

The M1 machine has a guest account I am not sure if the M2 has one. I will have to check.

The M1 has all my storage drives and provides the 8 shares named Movies1 through 8. Each of these shares has had the Guest account added to sharing privileges with READ/WRITE permission.

There is also a windows workgroup named “workgroup” that has been created. This was created when I was running my Sagetv system.

After browsing through Setup, Network shares, I see the folowing options “workgroup” and NFS. After selecting workgroup I see the MACBOOK, A300, M1 and M2 but selecting any of these brings up the user name, Password window which errors out no matter what I enter including leaving it blank.

Last night when I was trying to browse the network all my shares did not have the guest account added so this may have been a problem. I will be able to check this at lunch.

So far I have been able to add all shares manually by using the M1 IP address and share folder name however this creates a different NMJ database for each share and it not really to my liking. I have seen some info about possible solutions but I'm just learning to walk right now. :-)

RE: A300 Win7 ulitmate network shares
Ah, we have had this one before where its possible to add direct links and access but not through the NMT Brwoign function.

I'll try to remember and hope others also recollect the problem and help out. At work presently.

Keep asking questions, remeber there are no daft questions only daft answers Smile

I now have went through the wiki for setting up windows 7 networking and have made all changes and still can not browse my network. When I do browse the only options are workgroup and NFS if I had not created a work group what should I see at this point the network shares?

Selecting workgroup shows me all the computers on the network but when selecting a computer it asks for a user name and password. since I have guest accounts created on both computers and the shares setup with permissions for everyone and guest why is it asking for this?

when selecting Network media from the main menu it takes upwards of 30-40 seconds for the A300 to populate my network shares. I talked with support and they said this was not normal. They mentioned turning off UPNP on my routers but I can't find an option for this on my 3801HGV and Asus RTN56u can anyone help me with this?

RE: A300 Win7 ulitmate network shares
Take a few screenshots of your PC network settings etc.
Network settings:
[Image: th_net1-1.jpg] [Image: th_net2-1.jpg]
User Accounts-folder permissions:
[Image: th_net4.jpg] [Image: th_net3.jpg]

The user Everyone on Windows simply means everyone with an account on the PC. Not anyone attempting to connect with the device on the local network. So it includes Guest and chris57 in my PC. I like to use my player to delete files on my PC after watching so have Read/Write setup. You may decide to simply use Read.

I do have some direct share links saved in the A300 Network Section but can't remember if I used chris57 as the user or simply left them blank thereby using the Guest account.

Run the tools on the WIKI to make sure that you have your shared folders setup correctly. Lanscan is one but there is also windows share manager.

Used windows share manager all looked good.

I Changed both user accounts to same name and password (on machine 1 and machine 2) and entered them into the username password window when selecting my server machine from the workgroup network browse screen. No go just gives me a log in error.

I may be wrong (just had a quick look at your posts here) but if not solved yet, read this (links to Chris's suggestions):
