Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
On my PCH C-300 if I edit my database using the NMJ Toolbox to get correct thumbnails, posters and fanart, when I return to the NMJ none of the movies I have edited will start via the NMJ. They will start only by going into the folder and highlighting the actual movie file. This applies to DVD rips or .mkv files or .avi
Has anyone else found this, and if so does anyone have a solution please? Set up as per my signature. RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
Editing the images would not cause the video files not to play.
Were the entries already there in the database? Did you add the videos to the database using NMJToolbox2? Have you set your paths correctly from the settings menu in NMJToolbox2? The some of the movies were already in the database, but had wrong pictures, and some were not already in the database but I just added them using the NMJToolbox2. What I have found since my first post is, that if after editing using the NMJToolbox2 and then on the 300 I use the NMJ2 to do another update, then the movies will play, but some of the corrections I have made with toolbox are messed up again, and I'm getting wrong pictures on some movies, which sort of defeats the object. If I don't update using NMJ2 then any movies I have either edited or added using the toolbox will not play from within NMJ. I'm putting the correct tt numbers for the movies, and the file paths are set up right in the toolbox. RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
What you have stated makes no logical sense. Altering the images with NMJToolbox will not alter the PATH to the video entry so will have no effect on whether or not the file will play back.
Doing an update with NMJ should not update the entries you have edited but it has been known to happen. Any record you edit are flagged as user updated which NMJ should not overwrite if set but in some circumstances seems to. Nothing I can do about that unless we can track down why and report it as an issue with Syabas. If you want me to have a look at your issue you could send me your media.db & NMJToolbox2.properties file and let me know an entry that does and one that does not play and I can possibly point out why your problem exists. There are a few hundred people using NMJToolbox2 and I've not had this reported as a problem before (its usually down to settings). RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
Thanks again for your reply, and as you have indicated, this is most probably user incompetence.
I'll go through everything again to see what I've done wrong. Appreciate your help.

RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
First thing to check in NMJToolbox is Settings-> Paths
If you have entries in the PCH_PATH column, the WINDOWS_PATH column should have an entry that takes windows to the exact same location that the PCH_PATH entry is indicating. One thing that may be messing up the add of file is the 'Database Location' & 'Media Location' settings. I do not know of a situation where a user is using both a USB and an internal drive on the PCH. I assume the internal USB drive has your apps installed? Is the internal HDD formatted by the PCH or in NTFS by another machine? Entries that are added to setups like this may not be dealt with correctly by NMJToolbox as depending on the configuration of the PCH I had to code to work differently. Even posting me the path entry in NMJToolbox2 for a movie that plays and for one that does not should help me and also what you see in the settings->paths option. I'm sure I can get to the bottom of it. RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
Hi
I have the same problem. I've got a A-210. I add new shows with NMJED and customize thumbnails with NMJToolbox. Everything worked fine until the last edit 13/5. Then newly added shows won't play in wallmode but they do play when i goto "filemode". I'm really stuck so please help |

(05-15-2012 06:45 PM)joller Wrote: Hi This is probably the age old problem with NMJv1 of memory allocation. When in wall mode all of the covers are loaded into memory to display. I did extensive tests months ago and tracked it down to the image file sizes that are being used. If they are too large there is no memory left for the file to play - so it fails. However, in list view it only shows one cover at a time so less memory is used and they play. As a user request I allowed people to override resizing images when being added by NMJToolbox. Whilst it gives great results image wise it can cause problems with other areas. I recommend not using the 'Disable Resize' option in NMJToolbox to avoid getting this issue again. In NMJToolbox2 (for NMJv2 on the 300 series) there is no option to disable resizing and it automatically resizes files if they are too large. The solution? Go into your nmj_database/media/video folder and use a tool to resize the images to a smaller size. There are details of this in the NMJToolbox (v1) thread. RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
If you can supply more details:
Do you have an internal drive? Are your movies on the internal drive or elsewhere? What is the contents of your NMJToolbox.properties file? It will be down to a path issue 99% of the time. Samsung PS50P96FD Plasma (ISF Calibrated), Sony BDP-S550, SkyHD, HDMI 4x2 Matrix, Synology 1511+ with DX510 25TB NAS, Onkyo 605 receiver, Kef Q Series speakers QED cables. There's no internal drive, the films are all stored on an external drive I'm out at the moment but I'll check on the contents when I get back

RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
I am having a similar issue as well.
I just added the movie Brave to my collection. So I went into the Toolbox and clicked Add and manually added Brave to the list of movies. It picked up the movie fine and I added box art and such. Everything looks great, including the path to the mkv, EXCEPT when I goto play it, the screen just goes blank and sits there. It will never play the MKV and I get stuck. I have to pull the plug on the unit. Yet I can play the mkv fine in file mode. I have tried removing the entry and adding it again WITHOUT any box art or background and when I try to play it, it goes black then REBOOTS the UI. This is the first movie I have tried manually adding via the toolbox. I thought it would be a nice simple process with the toolbox to add a movie to tha database, but apparently not. Seems like everything with this damn box is a PITA to do and painfully slow. I guess I'll have to do an update and wait a half hour or so while it grinds through the list to pick up ONE new movie. **EDIT** Just did an update and now the movie plays fine. in looking at the database and what the system added, it look no different than what the toolbox added entry did that didn't play. I dunno. |

RE: Movies Not Starting In NMJ After Manual Edit
If you have a copy of the old media.db with the entry that doesn't work and your new scan that does work I can have a look and see what may be causing the issue.
