Network connectivity - accessing win 7 shares from A300
Hiya!
My husband just bought a PCH A300 for us to use as a media center instead of using the LG BD390 we used before, as that one had big problems with several codecs etc. I remember that in the beginning of using the LG we had connectivity problems when accessing our Win 7 shares, but following guides etc we finally fixed it, and were able to see our shares through the player. (For me, the big problem was using Live messenger, as I have read on these forums also cause problems with the PCH. Uninstalling it helped just fine, so that will never again be installed on my pc! ).I was happy as he bought the PCH, as this means no more muxing files in order to see the movies anymore, however, now the hell of setting up shares start all over again ![]() I have tried to read through the wiki pages and other posts, and I can see others seem to have similar problems as I do. My problem is the following: In my win 7 computer I only have one account, an administrator account with no password set (I like it this way, as I don't have to select user at startup, and no need to login, as all is done automatically). The guest account is turned off, and I would prefer to keep it off if possible. In some way, this setup works fine with the LG player, but not the A300. When browsing the network with the A300 I can see my pc, but when I try to show the content I get a login popup. It will not accept the administrator account from my computer with no password. We then created another user (even if I really don't want another one) with the same permissions. Still, I am not able to connect using these credentials. I get the error message 'Felaktig login' (probably login incorrect when using english setting). However, If I add the share manually, using the pc's ip instead of the name, I CAN login using these credentials of the newly created account. However, I can still not use my administrator user to login, with no password. Are the accounts used forced to have a password when using PCH? Why can't I access using just the browser, when I can using the ip instead? This makes accessing shares very frustrating, having to add each one with credentials for every single one... I would so love to get rid of the new account and just use the original admin account, as I always have, if possible... Any ideas would be appreciated! |

RE: Network connectivity - accessing win 7 shares from A300
I just did this with my win7 yesterday for my A210 ... works like a charm.
I did not create a "Guest" account in win7 ... only have the one account like you want. I did the manual registry edits as outlined in the article. http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...h_Windows7 good luck ... Ron |

RE: Network connectivity - accessing win 7 shares from A300
Well, I'm no expert on this and I did struggle with this as well.
You also MUST set the sharing to "Everyone" on the folder you wish to see on the PCH and do the tweak on the "Local Security Settings" as outlined in the article. In my case, it was necessary to reboot my win7 (ultimate) computer and reboot the PCH. Also for me, it only worked when I did all the steps in the article .... no cheating LOL I have no "login" user accounts on my win7 and I connect to the PCH through the browser exactly as desired. I have sever folders shared on the win7 and I see them all. keep trying ... |

RE: Network connectivity - accessing win 7 shares from A300
I find shares on the a300 can get quirky if you edit them.. I find the best solution is delete all the shares, reboot the pch and then add them back in carefully. Now there's 2 ways to add a share, I do the settings->network shares method (IIRC there's a colored button you need to press to get to all the settings), I don't go into settings too often and working from memory.
I also know syabas is starting to look into updating samba to a version more compatible with the protocol changes that microsoft did in windows 7. I wouldn't wait for them, but hopefully it'll get better sometime this year. |

RE: Network connectivity - accessing win 7 shares from A300
Make sure that you are accessing Shared Folders, via SMB, and not trying to access through Windows Media Software like WMP.
Make sure that Everyone has Read access to the Shared Folders. So not only Share each folder but also give each shared folder the correct permissions. Remember when accessing your Windows PC you need to enter your Windows User and Password not the NMT user and password. When accessing your NMT then use your 'nmt' and '1234' passwords. Look at this page along with the W7 one, it shows Shared Folder, User Accounts, permissions on a Vista PC. Similar to W7:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...work_Share Finally why not set a password and a user in W7. I have an Administator account with name Chris57 and password. However on boot my PC automatically logins for me without requiring a password via:- In the run menu type control userpasswords2. Just press WIN + R to get the RUN menu. The user accounts windows will now open up. Look for the option saying ” Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer ” and uncheck this option and press “OK”. Now a windows opens up asking you to enter the current password you use to log in to Windows 7. Enter the password and confirm. Done!. From now on when you boot to Windows you will not be asked or prompted to enter the user name and password. This can also save a couple of seconds while starting Windows A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

However, I don't think that will solve all of the problem. I have already verified that adding the share manually in the pch, using an account with password, it works fine. Then the problem should not be the permission settings, right? (I have verified them several times, as there was a similar problem when using the LG player as media device). The major problem is still that browsing the PC's from the PCH refuses to accept any login, even the one that works fine using manual adding of the same share... As stated above, I have already tried the registry-changes, rebooted both, and still no luck... |

RE: Network connectivity - accessing win 7 shares from A300
I have the exact same problem !!!! BUG?
More is more annoying: IT WAS WORKING, suddenly...........it stopped. "Login screen" I can't solve it, its frustrating It started all of a sudden. I still have no HDD on A300 but that was no problem I could access my Desktop and browse the folders. Its simple, inside WORKGROUP, everytime I try to access my pc it prompts user a password on a300, weird! Started all of a sudden. I cant access it simply. Just a folder I had added previously on the network selection thingy Did all that user account thingy: NO LUCK I love A300 but its starting to be frustrating. I doubt it's user side in most of cases like ours EDIT: Solved it. Dunno if by uninstalling LIVE (networkedmediatank(dot)com/wiki/index.php/Networking_with_Windows7) if by turning of (in windows7) media sharing. Strange stuff lool. HELP |
