One Advantage to NAS: Continuous file list?
If I purchase a (Synology) NAS and create their default SHR array across however many installed drives I put in it, am I correct in assuming I can backup all my 500+ DVD's into one folder on the NAS (called Movies, or whatever), and then when browsing via my PCH-300, I'll be able to scroll continuously down the list using the File Browser (not NMJ)?

May be a dumb question, but sometimes I've assumed something that ended up turning into a "gotcha."

Thanks in advance for any replies!

RE: One Advantage to NAS: Continuous file list?
I have a Synology CS407 4 bay NAS.

I have 4 x 1.5Tb HDD's in a RAID5 array. So I then create shared folders withni my RAID array. Those Shared Folders are then 'seen' by the player. On which of the 4 HDD the actual data is on I do not care. It matters not as they are in one shared folder that can be browsed as you wish.

I have my Shared Folder like this:-

\\Multimedia
\\Multimedia\Movies
\\Multimedia\Movies\HD
\\Multimedia\Movies\HD\MKV
..
\\Multimedia\Music\artist name\albumname\song.mp3
...
\\Multimedia\TV\TV Series Name
\\Multimedia\TV\TV Series Name\Season
\\Multimedia\TV\TV Series Name\Season\The Show.s01e01.Episode title.MKV

I then map a shared drive letter on my Windows PC to the Shared folder on my NAS called Multimedia. I then also change the icon in Windows for a Synology icon.

i then add a link direct from the player to the Multimedia folder.

I then press for NMJ to scan and as it is scanning on a level higher than TV, Movies and Music it scanns all of my saved files and constructs on jukebox in NMJ for all of my archived files in my multimedia shared folder on my NAS.

I did a Guide to setting up a Synology NAS etc. and put it up on the WIKI.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407
