Media Jukeboxes - Which is best?
Wondering what everyones thoughts as to which is the best third party jukebox software?

YAMJ or UMC or Oversight?

Is there somewhere where they can be easily compared for ease of installation, features etc?

Basically I am looking for the easiest one to use that can scan my films and TV series, auto download the art and info if possible ( though I have a lot of art already from my WDTV days ) and show it nicely, easy to set up and configure as coding language really confuses me for some reason, cope with two hard drives, one internal and one external.

I will be using an A-200, with whatever is the latest firmware release.

i prefer YAMJ with Eversion running the EVZAP theme.... and made some minor adjustments to the backgrounds and menu to how i want it....

runs perfect.

tried the others, but evzap is imo the best looking one.

There is no right or wrong answer to this question.. Everyone has different needs for what they want on the screen, how they want to update it, etc etc etc. It's a situation that is best to try them all out and find the one that works best for you and your house.

RE: Media Jukeboxes - Which is best?
Maybe worth narrowing your needs down a little bit

Got a hdd fitted where you store the media?
Do you have a jukebox that needs to update regular (daily)
Is how the jukebox displays very important?... loads of move info, etc
Do you want minimal 'housekeeping' of the jukebox

I personally use oversight because it works with auto downloading set up I have with sickbeard, CP and Nbzget so everything is done automatically with almost no work from me ... other jukeboxes might work like this but not sure if it's a matter of just downloading via csi and it works... it just works.. that's all I can say Cool

one bit of advice i would give though is try them out on a small number of movies/tv shows so you dont have to wait too long for the scan to see if it a) works, b) suits your tastes

RE: Media Jukeboxes - Which is best?
Thanks for the info.

Can you tell me, is it possible to have seperate folders within the library?
What I am trying to say is, currently, I have folders specific for different types of films or TV series, so I have 4 folders, Childrens Films, Films, Childrens TV Series,TV Series and under each of those folders are separate folders for each film or season.

Can I keep that folder structure? And if so how would I define that in YAMJ?

if not, what would be the best way to ensure the childrens content is separate from the adult content?

Many Thanks in advance.

Oversight is the easiest to install and run. Tried YAMJ a number of times and gave up eventually.

Oversight is the best for me.....no PC needed like for YAMJ.....and very reactive for debug by lordy....
With Eversion supported is very nice Smile
