[C-200] Firmware 03-04-120517-21-POP-408 (03-04-111220-21-POP-408) (23.05.2012)

Haven't updated for about 6-9 months, did the online upgrade for this release, flashing went fine, verifying went fine, rebooted and now I'm looking at the "// Firmware Recovery - Please insert USB drive..." screen - any suggestions? Help.

Is "Reset to factory settings" mandatory ?
Does this erase all my tweaks and twists I did 'till now ?

a factory default reset all settings yes, i don't know what tweaks you mean

The factory reset is recommanded and of course you will lose any modifications on your unit. We have noticed that some issue still persist until you do this. So yes it is mandatory for a good update

How can I verify which recovery method I require, since I can't remember the exact firmware I had (or now have?)

did you do the stepstone before? so the last online update? because if you say your last update was 6-9 months then you are on the stepstone and you should use the second method

Possibly not, though I can't be sure since it would have been quite some time ago and I'm not really sure when I did the last upgrade (to be honest, the C-200 doesn't get much use these days). I thought doing the online upgrade of this firmware meant it wasn't necessary to do the "stepstone" update.

If I apply the wrong recovery firmware will it knacker the C-200 permanently?

Thats correct doing it online will install the stepstone first anyway, so i would try first step 2 to recover, and no it won't destroy the c200.

OK many thanks - will attempt recovery with the "after 03-04-110530-21-POP-408-000" recovery image (any chance of using saner version numbers in future? )
