RE: Irritating frame-repeating-stutter (only MKV-container related)
i have some time to sit down i will analyze this stuff.

strange part is eac3 is showing same information for both .

C:\eac3to>eac3to.exe c:\Users\halfelite\Downloads\gotsamples\got.sample.mkv -check
MKV, 1 video track, 1 audio track, 0:01:00, 24p /1.001
1: h264/AVC, 720p24 /1.001
2: AC3, 5.1 channels, 384kbps, 48kHz, dialnorm: -24dB, 4ms
v01 Extracting video track number 1...
a02 Extracting audio track number 2...
Video track 1 contains 1437 frames.
eac3to processing took 1 second.
Done.

C:\eac3to>eac3to.exe c:\Users\halfelite\Downloads\gotsamples\got.sample.forced_fps.mkv -check

Yup, fucky shit, isnt it? Tongue
But guess you saw the one has it and the other doesnt? Mind-F*ck...

Btw, tested also on my tv-mediaplayer. No issue with the original.

Any input or resolution to this issue? I have two PCH A-300's I am about to return due to playback issues. I've always done HTPC's but hoped this would be the easier route.

For me it is pretty much a stuttering almost slow-motion playback (only regular speed)

Playing from Synology NAS

That sounds like a different issue. Post media info or sample

RE: Irritating frame-repeating-stutter (only MKV-container related)
Same problem here.
Had the same issue on my old A-110, but at that time I thought it was a Sigma related issue, so I didn't investigate.
In my case a small self-made AVI shows fine, while an MKV remuxed version of it stutters every 2 frames.
I played around with almost every mergemkv setting coming along with a huge bunch of equally stuttering MKVs.

So I set the PCH to the fastest video mode available, which is 1080p @ 60 Hz, disabled all digital frame processing stuff on the TV, put a high speed camera in front of it, set it up to 60 fps and pressed REC.
I did this a couple of times to get the recording in sync with the TV and guess what?

All frames are showing, but with the wrong timing.
Odd frames are 50% persistent, even frames are 150% persistent.
That is: 3 frames A followed by only 1 frame B, then 3 frames of C and 1 frame of D and so on.
Seems the player continuously corrects its own speed to avoid getting out of sync with the audio.

So what? Don't know... Smile just wanted to let you know.

If you muxed xvid/avi straight into mkv that is normal and a big no no and would do strange things you would need to demux video back to MPEG before going into mkv.

Yes, that is exactly how I did it. I used MKVmerge for this purpose.

I already suspected being wrong in doing it and expecting it to work, so I also tried several brand new MVK/X264 encoding all leading to the exact same stuttering result.

You demuxed the video from xvid first? the issue with it is xvid/mkv handle b-frames differently so you get some strange things when you mux straight from xvid into mkv

RE: Irritating frame-repeating-stutter (only MKV-container related)
No, I let MKVmerge do the whole thing for me in one pass.
Gee! Didn't suspect it at all!

Yesterday I took a look to that old test I did, and found an MP4 try I forgot I made up.
It stutters as well, and this is definitely the only stuttering MP4 in my whole collection.

Seems I'm somehow doing it wrong and thereby leading the whole thread to the wrong conclusions.
Sorry guys, I should study some more on Doom9 before pretending to backup my own DVDs.

still , same problem for me with certain MKV witj last firmware.
the only solution is to remux in m2ts with tsmuxer , after , no more problem on the movie and no stuttering.
