[Closed] UPNP-Server shows no FLAC files

The UPNP server doesn't seem to show up FLAC files. I have many FLACs and some M4A. Only the last are browsable.
I've tried with foobar2000, UPnPlay (Android) and someone else (Flash?) reports the same with BubbleUPNP (Android).
This is very annoying:
This device is features high fidelity audio with FLAC files and an UPNP server, but not the combination of both...
And using my music system with an UPNP controller would be very handy.

FLAC never was shared on UPNP. so it's not a bug but a feature request...

Well, let's have a look at the specifications...

Connectivity
..., UPnP AV, ...

Supported Media File Formats
...FLAC...

Do you really think a missing advertised functionality becomes a feature if only enough time goes by?
I don't think so...

Especially because the device is able to play FLAC files... it only ignores them.

there is a difference between the playback capabilities and the server capabilities..

well whatever..... they will never accept it as a bug.... so if you really want it set it as a feature request or forget about it...

It is possible to get FLAC working over UPNP using a trick. In my case I'm using a Synology NAS that has the option to customize the MIME types associated with filename extensions.

I have associated .flac with audio/x-ogg, which the PCH C-200's UPNP code recognizes. This will make the C-200 list and play FLAC files from the NAS over UPNP. The C-200 doesn't care that what it receives is not in Ogg format.

Bug or no bug, it would be nice if one could use the audio/flac MIME type instead of this workaround. It seems like it would be a trivial thing to add, since the C-200 already knows how to handle the files.

Of course it's an easy feature to add... please start a feature request and explain that to them....
just don't try to lay this one on the guy's that are responsible for the bugs...
