MKV Avatar 37GB won't play

Hello,

I have a PCH C-200 with the latest firmware and it doesn't play the Avatar mkv file.It also didn't play when before I upraded it ( i had the factory settings). I try to play it through my external usb drive. It plays on my PC using VLC Player. I used some search and found a tool nammed Media Info, so I hope this is enough for you kind guys to help me out with the problem.

When I select the video and want to play, the screen goes black for 3 seconds, and back to the selection... nothing happens.

Please help me out.

P.S. I also used MKVmergeGUI software to do a ''REMUX'' ( whatever this means) and it found 0 errors.

Given that you haven't got any reply yet let me make the following [stupid] suggestion: why don't you try "simplifying" your MKV by removing some "unecessary" SRT tracks? I remember I read some time ago people having issues playing (on different boxes) MKVs with "too many" SRTs.

And if this works...could you be kind enough to let the community know as this might help others.

There's a good chance depending on when this file was made that the ripping tool didn't fully support the copy protection on the disc yet and the file is bad.

If you are playing from a HD connected via USB. Pls try playing something else first. You might be using a drive that the C200 doesn't recognize (3TB and higher). If nothing plays from the same drive then you know what to try next.

I apologize for a late reply.

My external drive ( WD 750 GB ) plays all the other movies I tried to play ( more than 30 so far).

So I listened to your advice and copied the movie to the internal hdd I have installed in the PCH.
The internal hdd plays all the other files but this 1, meantioned in the 1st post ( avatar ).

If I plug the internal hdd or usb external hdd to the computer, it plays smoothly.

Thanks for advice about removing unecessary SRT, but would you pleae be that kind and recommend me the tool that allows me to do that?

I just simply don't get it.... the PCH was meant for one and one purpose only : to play video files. How come it cannot play all the files, while the computer can. Maybe there's some hope left, so thats not my final conclusion :=)

ANY idea is more than welcome. (maybe it would help if change some stuff in settings ? )

I have the Avatar Collectors Editon in BDMV format and it plays without any problem on my C200.

Looks like you have a ripping problem and you should sort it as already suggested. It could be as simple as the chapter naming not being correct. It will certainly save you space if you remove all the crap you dont need in any case plus the remux will tell you if there are errors it can find in the MKV. Use MKVMerge to open the file and then deselect languages and chapters you dont want.
