C300 - Factory Reset Issue

Exclamation C300 - Factory Reset Issue
So referring to the previously reported issue where the A300/C300 sometimes resets to factory defaults.

See previous thread: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=58915

The last post on the above thread mentioned a response from technical support.

Quote:It is a likely hardware issue with the memory module.

Your best solution is to send it in for repair/replacement.

I get this quite often. And so do other people!

My question is, since I bought my C300 directly from http://www.popcornhour.com what is the solution to this issue?

This question is aimed at Popcornhour.com or Syabas Technologies.

Regards

Tomas

RE: C300 - Factory Reset Issue
If you're question is for PCH or Syabas then here is not the place to ask. Neither is here the place to post any discussions with support as we do not answer for them and they have no opportunity to respond.

You could try a PM to Werner or you could try Support through creating a ticket. You could also try email.

Personally if my 300 kept losing it's settings then I'd be straight onto support for a replacement as it seems indicative of memory failures.

RE: C300 - Factory Reset Issue
This seems to be happening more to me since I upgrade to the latest firmware... pretty much weekly. Takes me 10 minutes to re-add my share, change my audio/video settings, fix my time along with other settings.

The audio threw me off for a while, didn't know it went to downmix on all settings by default. I was watching movies in stereo until I figured that out.

At least if they made a "backup settings" to backup to your USB stick. Except it takes 10 minutes to detect the memory stick... another bug. So I can configure it around the same time it takes to detect (USB stick is name brand and formatted NTFS).

Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

RE: C300 - Factory Reset Issue
What gets fixed?

If you mean losing your settings then please do not sit back expecting a fix.

Do a factory recovery using a jumper as per the PCH Support website link.

Then add your settgins back in.

If they get lost still then you have a problem with the hardware, NAND memory most likely, and should get it RMA'd before you get to the end of warranty.

I didn't do a factory recovery using a jumper... can you point me to that link? I was on the site and couldn't find anything.

However, unsure how resetting a unit to factory settings fixes a problem that the unit resets to factory settings...

Yes, I will most likely have to RMA this unit. Only had it a couple months and nothing but crap so far.

RE: C300 - Factory Reset Issue
Explain to support about the issue say you frequently lose your settings on a complete power down, not it happens all the time as the RMA department will fire it up kill power if no settings lost they will call it not an issue, but if you say it happens frequently but not all the time more then likely they will just send a new one. Just make sure to state clearly what the issue is.

RE: C300 - Factory Reset Issue
hello,

what is/was next step for this issue ?

Because, frequently, my c300 looses its settings, but not completely.

In fact, language, network, shares, nmj, apps, are set to default, but some settings are the same as my previous personal settings, like widgets, city for weather...

I can see that Factory default are set, because very slow response of c300, language is english, and screensaver appears (i do not usually use screensaver ).

i am in France, and i bought c300 straight to popcorn hour sales website.

using PCH support for this is the good solution ?

thanks

ps: to set new settings, menus and remote actions were very slow. After a few minutes, c300 runs normally. As it tests something or run a checkdisk or something like that. It is not the first time since beginning of this year... i don't know what it s happen, i am like a blind man (if i could say that).
