A200 + WN-160 slow wireless speed
My setup:
Popcorn A200 (samba, FTP and UPnP enabled) Wireless dongle WN-160 TP-link TL-wr1043ND router (channel 11, WPA2-AES encr., assigned IP's) Dell XPS M1530 notebook (samba shares, win7) I get an upload speed of 850-950 kb/s when wireless transfering files from my notebook, to the A200. I would really like it to go faster. Connecting the equipment with a cable is no option. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot in advance guys! I have to return some videotapes. |

RE: A200 + WN-160 slow wireless speed
In my experience the WN cards are really crappy (come one, look at the size of the thing). They're mostly to connect your Popcorn to the Internet, downloading stuff at the speeds you mention... not for transferring files, or streaming from a network drive.
If cable is not an option, I guess it's because the difficulty of installing ethernet new cable around your house. Get a Powerline Adapter, and just hook it behind your AC receptable near the popcorn. You will get much higher speeds with current technology (I think it's like 250MB's). A couple of my friends, have gone this router, because they wanted to avoid the hassle of installing ethernet cable inside the walls, etc. You could also try with a wifi bridge, but probably costs around the same, and you're still limited to Wifi speeds. |
