I do so agree, for music play back it's should be classed as a piece of s**t, no shuffle play, no app that work or can be added, no way of dealing with a certain number of music tracks

You don't say where you actually store your music, but if it's from a networked server then try SwissCenter. It has a comprehensive music section where you can browse by artist, album, genre, year, easily shuffle, get's artist/album info/images from internet, and much more.

I have just bought the WD live TV hub today

It cost 209€ from amazon, installed in less then 10 mins, this price includes a 1TB HD

First impressions, when starting it shows straight away that a newer firmware is available, no need to go into setup to check, neat

The interface is far better that the Popcorn, far cleaner and more modern and a APP for Android that can replace the remote

I copied some of my music folder to a folder that I created through the PC interface (as like the Popcorn), these showed up straight away on the WD Music section (copy PC to WD is extremly slow like the Popcorn) same for my videos.

And then the best bit is that you can just hit play shuffle on this music folder which the Popcorn cannot, so here is a real media player and it can play any titles in any folder in the man folder no matter how deep the folder is.

Popcorn put on sale for 170€, have had one offer already in 24h (could sell it for more as its 299€ here in France and without the HD), so all in all 50€ for a new media center for about 50€ that CAN play correctly music

I will be testing it for the next couple of days and copying all my 18 000 tracks on to it, if need be, please PM or reply with any questions, but so far so good.

Dump the Popcorn and buy the WD so that you can listen to your music

Add by pressing the center of the rocker......

The first album in the wall is started by pressing the play (arrow button), then, still in wall mode, the following selections are made by pressing the center of the rocker on your remote ( select ), then you are in a screen you can rocker left and select (press center) the + (add) with the rocker, then rocker left which takes you back to the wall. Try this and you will see you can add multiple albums. THEN hit source, rocker to music icon, select, press repeat 3X and you have random for all selections.
It would be nice if there was a genre, select all, play and random, or play all ability, but that is not supported by nmj apps or firmware. It would seem to be a relatively easy implementation since the simplest of media players are capable, but popcorn does allow multiple albums (or directories represented by an album icon) to be shuffled....

Shuffle does appear to be continuous.

In text mode (not nmj) you can randomize the songs in a directory by pressing play, then random 3X, but this only allows random play within the directory. Theoretically you could dump all songs into a directory and then shuffle them using this. Primitive workaround...
