Wifi dongle WN 160 not working on 5Ghz

Hello, need some help. I'm using linksys e4200 with A300 with wifi dongle (WN 160) and I can't make it to link up at 5Ghz. It only connects at 2.4Ghz. Playing 720p/1080p movies at 2.4Ghz is slow and I'm trying to see if it will be resolved by having 5Ghz connection. I'm pretty sure there nothing wrong with the linksys router as I've got devices connecting to it at 5ghz and 2.4ghz simultaneously. Thanks in advance!

I doubt the WN 160 is 5ghz. BTW 5ghz does not necessarily means more speed. In fact, if you switch to 5ghz, you might notice a lower signal, since the higher the frequency, the shorter the range. More speed is acomplished depending on the protocol you're using (802.11n, 802.11g). Sometimes routers, bond radios together (or more) for much higher speeds in the 5ghz range, but required similar support from the network card.

From my experience, the WN wifi cards, are so small, and underpowered, they're not god for transferring files over a network. You will have 20x better results, if you go wired.
