RE: C-300 and iPlayer
Contacted the BBC and got the following useless email (after almost a week to research the issue!) -
Thanks for contacting the BBC iPlayer Support team. I understand you would like to know if and when iPlayer will be compatible with the Syabas Popcorn Hour C300. We are constantly working on expanding iPlayer onto various platforms and devices, but can’t advise on if or when it will be compatible with, and available on this device. Thanks for taking the time to contact us. Kind Regards Still no working BluRay player, still disappointed with the C300. |

RE: C-300 and iPlayer
It would be nice for Syabas to tell us what they are doing to get the BBC to sort this out. I'll try to bring it to Werner's attention.

RE: C-300 and iPlayer
Is not the C200 Iplayer just a flash app that can be copied over to the 300 and ran or is there some kind of device detection built into the app? has anyone tried it?

RE: C-300 and iPlayer
I would imagnie there's all sorts of protection in it. It's also geospecific, so it checks the ip range to make sure its a UK ip.
The A300 has it. There's not been any mention of the A400 and BBC iPlayer either which makes me slightly concerned although its still very early and if the process takes as long as the C300 Syabas should have started it a couple of years ago. We've emailed the BBC ourselves (as license fee payers) but have had zero useful back from them. Think it may be time for letters to the Director General at least then you'll get a response that's not automated hopefully. Mind you they are busy presently with other things

RE: C-300 and iPlayer
Yes Chris, too busy making huge payoffs to 40 day executives from licence fee payers money to worry about something so petty as looking after those fee payers.
![]() Emailed them ages ago and only got a crappy useless reply. Still, rather pay a licence fee, than have adverts every few minutes in the middle of a show, like the commercial stations do. (Is this too political for this forum?)

RE: C-300 and iPlayer
Well I've asked in a few different places where I know it will have been read by Syabas. No response or feedback from them I'm afraid.
That speaks volumes to me. Also the fact that there's been no mention of BBC Iplayer and the A400. If you want BBC iPlayer the A300 seems to be the last player that has it. It also has full navigation and the NTFS paid driver that enables NTFS write speeds above 8MB/s. If there are important then the A300 as its reduced price seems the better option than the A400 presently. RE: C-300 and iPlayer
That could also be a standard fob-off so they don't have to admit they haven't bothered to test it yet, by claiming contract confidentiality.
Thoughts on Syabas support? Share them here |

RE: C-300 and iPlayer
If you read the post above from adrianlodge that's the standard fob-off. I got a few of them as I sent quite a few emails.
The response above is different from the others and addresses the question why the C300 does not have BBC iPlayer, which was not the question asked which was when was it getting it and why was it taking so long. Werner is going to see if anythign can be found out with the Syabas guys responsible for Apps. They wont be sending the BBC an A400 anytime soon though. Its not the end of the world these days with smart TV,s etc. but it the not knowing an dragging on of the issue whilst newer devices get clearence that needs resolving to manage expectations and perception.
