after 2 updates an several scans of my entire music and movies database I am perfectly happy with the results (NMJToolbox does wonders for unknown TV series and other small problems) but:
In the genre view of my music collection I find the genres I so carefully edited to my gusto (using Tag&Rename to be fully mp3 v2 tag compatible) and, in addition to the correctly displayed ones, about 20 genres called "112" or "02": all numbers. So I deleted the itunes folder (containing only the itunes database) from the nmt, as I thought silly Itunes would be messing up everything. To no avail. I also checked (with Tag&Rename again) if all genres were ok on my PC: No numbers to be found there. Rescanning did not help, but maybe forum members can? Somebody experienced simmilar problems? THX for your reply. |

RE: Database (NMJv2) scans music genre wierdly
The genres in the NMJ are actually held in an index. Can you look at the albums and tracks in NMJToolbox and see if those 'weird' genres appear next to any of the entries? It may be just that there are no albums/songs pointing to those genres but they still exist in your genre index.
If you send me a copy of your media.db I can have a look at it for you to see what the issue is. You can also always update the tracks with the MediaInfo option in NMJToolbox which *may* force a re-creation of the index for those tracks. I did do an index rebuild for movies and TV in NMJToolbox, maybe I could do one for Music too (currently busy adding the 'Photos' section which should be released by this weekend). Samsung PS50P96FD Plasma (ISF Calibrated), Sony BDP-S550, SkyHD, HDMI 4x2 Matrix, Synology 1511+ with DX510 25TB NAS, Onkyo 605 receiver, Kef Q Series speakers QED cables. C200 & A210, A300 1.5TB Internal HDD in each. |

RE: Database (NMJv2) scans music genre wierdly
I have now (that's the reason for the delay) deleted the entire nmj_database folder and rescanned from scraps (latest firmware): to no avail: sam weird genres. Is nobody else experiencing this?
"Can you look at the albums and tracks in NMJToolbox and see if those 'weird' genres appear next to any of the entries?" Yes thex do! I see e.g. a Stanley Brothers album and it is listed as "bluegrass" (my choice) and one song also also as "89" (not my choice) and windows explorer as well as Tag&Rename do not show any such info, that's what I call weird. "If you send me a copy of your media.db ..." I gladly do so, please give me contact details and thenI'll send the .db file to you. |

RE: Database (NMJv2) scans music genre wierdly
You can always add/remove genres on albums and tracks using NMJToolbox, just use the toolbar button with the image of 'theatrical masks' on it whilst the selection you want to modify is highlighted in the tree view.
You can always get NMJToolbox to re-read the mediainfo from the file using the mediainfo toolbar button and see if it picks up the same details as the NMJ does. However, if you do want me to look at the DB you have just upload to somewhere like multiupload.com and PM me the link. The question here is: have other users experienced a simmilar phenomenon?
If they have we might want to report it to the sybas perople, if not I'll just rename (or: regenre) abot 15% of my extensive collection with mnj toolbox, because I just don't se the "weird" genres on my PC. Tahnks for you replies. |
