[Bug] PCH-A110 Stops playing video after a few minutes

PCH-A110 Stops playing video after a few minutes
I have been using my pch for almost three years now. Always with a 1 TB HDD.
No problems untill now.
All of a sudden the movies that it plays daily, will freeze after 3-4 minutes. The pch does not respond to any action but the on/off switch on the back.
Even when the unit has been off for a day. Turned the pch on, start a movie and after a few minutes it freezes.
So I don't think it is related to temperature.
I tried to play music, that still works fine...
I tried photo slideshows, still works fine...
Right after that, I try a movie and it freezes again.
It happens to mkv, dvd, iso files. So i'm guessing every movie file.

I have the latest firmware installed.
At first I suspected a HDD crash.
So I formatted another HDD and filled it up with all my movies.
But with the new HDD, the PCH had the same problem.

Is this a known failure and what can I do about it?

RE: PCH-A110 Stops playing video after a few minutes
And the answer from Popcorn:

Hi,

Unfortunately this is a behavior when the CPU or ROM in the A-110 stop working correctly. It is not user serviceable and cannot be fix via software.

We have ceased RMA/repair support on the A-110. You may wish to consider upgrading to one of our latest products.

Another little update:

I used cooling spray on the processor and the PCH kept playing longer.
After that I let it get hot again and the PCH stopped.
So it is definitely temperature related.
Does anybody have a custom fan built in?

RE: PCH-A110 Stops playing video after a few minutes
I've been using a small cooling fan from when I first purchased the A-110 a few years back and have a no playback problems until now. I'm seeing the exact behavior as you are experiencing and I'm a little disappointed with their response to our problem. Is there a return credit we could use if we trade-in the A-110 for an A-400?
