Please Help: Can't connect to C-200 from PC...
I've had the C-200 connected to my PC for a while via LAN and I was using that hookup to copy files from my PC to the C-200's internal HDD as well as to 2 externally connected Hard Drives.
Several days ago I had what I assume is a power supply failure with the C-200, so I did some tests and took the internal drive out of the player. After I took it out, the C-200 actually works with no issues and I can still operate the 2 external drives connected to it. Problem is, I can no longer access those drives from my PC. Why is that? I didn't change any settings, definitions, wiring's or anything like that. All I did was remove the internal hard drive and like I said, after doing so the machine operates fine with no problems. It's not only that I can't access the external drives through the "My Computer" shortcuts, I cannot connect to the C-200 at all whatsoever. What's going on? Will appreciate any input... Thanks! |

Maybe because you had NMT apps installed on that HDD you removed ?
I know I use Samba app for transfers and this is a NMT app on my internal HDD. PCH-C200(Oct.2009,2.5"350GB Samsung HDD, no BD player)>HDMIv1.3>OnkyoTX-SR507>HDMIv1.3>Samsung LE37B650. Harmony ONE. One dead PSU. |

I have the exact same problem. From one day to the next, there is just no connection. machine or transmission.

RE: Please Help: Can't connect to C-200 from PC...
This is probably master browser related. Especially if you have devices that get turned off, go to sleep or laptops and things that remove from the network often.
My recommendation is don't use the hostname for the mapping and then master browser isn't used for the connection. 1: make sure the pch ip stays the same. use static or reserved/assigned DHCP address. Wiki has help on this. 2: delete your mapped drive in windows 3: open \\ip.of.the.pch in windows. put in the username/password. change ip.of.the.pch to it's ip. You can open it in any file browser window, start->run, pressing windows key+r, browser window, etc. 4: map the share to the old drive letter you just deleted. Enjoy. FYI: I know syabas has started looking at newer updates to samba which would fix this. At the same time, microsoft has chagned it AGAIN in windows 8 and newer server os's about to come out. Once again the linux world will be going into "reverse engineer" it mode and things will break again. |
