OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
Hi,

I've currently got A-110 and thinking of upgrading to A-300. - however has discussed in many threads Full 3D isn't supported on the A-300.

Is it still worth an upgrade? I don't want to buy somehting, and it to be out of date tomorrow. I know tech. moves faster however I've had A-110 for years and 6 months will not make a difference.

the only thing that has pushed me about thinking of upgrading is the sizeable mkv files - I've often found the popcorn runs very slow in the film and steps frames out including the sound. and I have to stop the film and then play again for it to continue at normal pace. - is this normal?

thanks

RE: OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
I don't see a Full 3D popcorn hour coming out for at least another year. I considered the A200 a worthy upgrade from the A110. A A300 is a no brainer for me.

Frame skipping seems more like a firmware bug then hardware not being able to keep up. The A300 is going to have more firmware bugs than the A110 because it is newer.

RE: OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
If full 3d is important, I would hold off.. it doesn't do it because the hardware can't support it.. sigma doesn't even make a chip that can support it yet..

Have you decided not to wait for Full HD 3D support? I am guessing you would like to use A-300 for many years as you did for A-110. Then why compromise?
Some people do expect PCH unit with newer chips in 6 months or so. Check this thread out -

RE: OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
You can get it direct from Popcorn Hour (be aware that you will pay import duty)
Or somewhere like pixmania, which has the charges built in.

If you don't want new, fleabay is always worth a look.

Most retailers don't carry a lot of stock, so it will take a while for the order to come in.

It looks like your in tough spot... I am C200 owner and have not experienced the problem you're having. I myself don't plan on upgrading until there is Full 3D support. It just doesn't make sense to. So your looking at some kind of interim upgrade maybe. I wish we had a solid time frame of when the next Popcorn Hour is due out.

RE: OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
There are a few jukebox options for the a110.. Personally I've always used oversight.. Simple to set up and use, others have used yamj andi I'm sure they will also say easy tos set up and use.. Best thing to do is try them out on a folder with only a few movies and TV shows so you can have a test without a long wait between scans

RE: OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
But I dont think the iplayer app is available for the x300 models yet?

I also live in the UK and recently bought my C300 through Pixmania, didnt have any problems with delivery etc and prices were probably the cheapest around: http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/11199929...ed-mu.html

RE: OLD wanting NEW Popcorn
I have been happily watching BBC iplayer on my A300 for months.Smile

The C300 is with the BBC awaiting their certification. Please email the BBC asking them what the hell they are playing at!

The A300 was on iBood awhile ago for around £180 including delivery and the wireless dongle.
