Packet loss when using autoneg/gigabit setting for NIC/network

I've come to understand that the PCH-C300 has a gigabit NIC. However, the default setting was set to 10/100. When I set it to "Auto", I got major packet loss, even with normal pings. I did read the thread about TCP window size (RWIN), and adjusted it accordingly. But I don't think that's the issue here. When I run it at 10/100 everything works just fine (no PL, max throughput for 100mbit).
So, is it just me that gets de-facto unusable network throughput / packet loss when using the "auto" setting for network speed? If not, is there any way around it? What's the root cause? Bad network driver in the firmware? Anything else?

Just FYI, still get the same issue with the new firmware.

Did you factory reset because that bug would mean you have the old bad setting still setup.. you'd need to reset the rx window setting for the fix to fully go in.
better off factory resetting in this case tbh.. it's a pain but it's one of those situations where they can't realyl chagne your personal setting for a new default and you don't get the new default without them changing it. |

RE: Packet loss when using autoneg/gigabit setting for NIC/network
ehehe nic chip.. it's an soc, there is no nic chip which is part of the problem, when you want to max it, your maxing the bus, the cpu, the whole unit and yes packets get lost.
Alternatively, I wish they would start to include some usb nic dongle drivers.. this way it gives you a second wired choice. |
