You are not one of the few, remember most only post when they have a problem so thank you for posting that it's working well.

Some also incorrectly use a firmware thread to gripe, troll or ask is this or that fixed when it's not even mentioned in the release notes. If it aint mentioned dont ask.

chris, just curious to know, how can the same box, using the same transistors and resistances and motherboard, the same pieces, the same everything, can behave diffrently from one person to another? i am very frustrated that i cannot use the new firmware, i dont have network on it, not even wired works...i can post a video like i did in the past with relative positions of subtitles...

i did try to re-flash the firmware and no luck, the same happened, so i am back to february one...again...

you guys have no suggestions for me at all?

the fact that it doesnt happen to others, only to me...its scarry! it means there will be no fix in future firmwares for this problem...
the others that experience problems somewhat similar to me, at least they managed to make the network work on wired...i cant make it work at all!
and the fact that i can telnet into it is even scarrier...

you understand my pain?

First we do understand your pain as we are like you NMT Owners. We may be a little desensitised to it though as we have had 100, 200 and 300 series players.Smile

You ask how can one issue affect only some owners. for an example look in the release notes. It specifically mentions Linksys routers. not everyone has a linksys router and therefore only some will be affected.

The last firmware affected Synology NAS owners. Again not everyone has a Synology NAS.
The last firmware affected m4a audio file playback. Very few apart from Apple users bother with m4a.

You seem to have a problem with both this and the last firmware, so i would post in the Network Section and ask for help.

On a network it is far better to use set static ip's for your player. even in the 100 days but certainly now it seems to not cause anything like the issues DHCP users have.

The requirement for Factory Resets also does not help as many do not remember to reset all of their settings or the likes of NMT Apps updating. So the cause may be related to the firmware but only in that factory reset has for example changed the network devices name or subnet and therefore screwed up your LAN setup.

I loaded the new fw, and just went to try and play a ISO I made with anyDVD that worked fine on my old C-200. I try to play the movie from the menu,
and it will not play the file. Boy do I wish I had never bought these 2 300's I bought. And since I was dumb enough to keep longer than 30 days thinking new fw would be out soon and fix simple things like this, support tells me I cannot send them back.

Sorry for answering off-topic. Google gave me this hit on first search 4 links down Tongue
Scroll down to "Noise production & Energy comsumption" and open the bar up. There you go.

There is no more "Ú" letter in the file names in file browser, only a square in the place of Ú. All other Eastern-European characters works like before.

I had the same issue after the firmaware update.

It did get auto dhcp settings but the network still didn't work changing to manual, didn't work. I went through the setup wizard and I didn't change anything but suddenly the network partly worked, so at least the app update ran through, but still no network connection in the apps marked. Then somebody here told me to switch to manual and that part also started to work. So if you dare to try again, update the firmware, go through the wizard, update the apps set network to manual. Good luck!

You are not alone, they really screwed up something in the network in this firmware, my guess would be in the routing tables. This is the first device I ever came across that has problems problems with specific routers and dhcp, not sure how somebody can manage to break something so basic that's around for decades.

Filminator, thanks! I did two things: 1. installed TomatoUSB on my Asus RT-N66U Dark Knight, 2. did EXACTLY as you said. network is working now...

so thanks again for advice! not sure which of the two things fixed it but i am glad it did!

i cant imagine how it would be for a normal user who cant install custom rom on his router , and/or doesnt know about this forum....

BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but the basic is the minimum to be able to read dvd iso... now it is not possible !!!

direct access to file/folder with number touch = not possible
change samba password with not numeric or numeric character = not possible
save the settings in a file = not possible
reset the factory default so often after upgrade = not comprehensible
not possible to see if pch is or not switch on/off (3colors as c200) = not implemented
choose the number of lines in file mode explorer (c300 = 11, c200 = 15) => regression
choose character height in file mode
display all files if i want... if subtitles files are present.... => like c200 or A110.
list of files too slow (straight nas in 1gb/s network) = pause every 2 or 3 secunds. why ?

etc !!!
what catastrophic nmt this c300...

4 months to regression is

edit: DVD Iso playing works fine now. I switch off totally my nmt c300. And switch on after a few second. After "reboot", it works normally.

no issue with network, with hdd...

After using it a few days, i can say now, that my C300 works fine.
It is the first time today that i feel better about this nmt.

a few good things:
the first icon like previous state (after last shutdown).
displayed capslock/numlock state
synchro srt with mkv

in comparaison with my A110 and C200, which always work fine, C300 is not enough mature.

I don't use nmj, nice but too slow (use two NAS Netgear), not adapted for tv shows, with 2 versions of team (Hd or Sd), lists of episod not clear

I use file mode, and in comparaison with c200, C300 is not efficient:
Too slow
small number of lines
remote button inactive
in rename mode: poor system, although keyboard, but i think developpers not use this nmt for their own use... it is not possible that they develop these functions.

So my think is C300 = a lot of miss in comparaison with previous products. a shame !

after all of that, system c300 seems good : the first time i think this, since i bought this c300 !!!!

This updates fixes a lot of problems I had with subtitles. But unfortunately it gives me a big network problem. It’s unbelievable that a NMT Networked(!) Media Tank is not able to connect well to a network. I went back to the previous version of the firmware because I was not able to make a stable connection to my network. With the February firmware I also get only a stable connection when I use the manual mode. I really don’t understand that all my electronic devices (+10) have no problem with connecting to my Zyxel network via wifi or lan and my expensive network media player has a lot of problems with it. My A-300 has no problem at all (same network). The C-300 must be able to connect by auto mode via dhcp. Router info: Zyxel P-2812HNU-F1. Undecided

I am a big fan of Popcorn, in the past I owned a A-110 and a C-200. Now I have the A-300 and the C-300. Hopefully Popcorn will test the firmware very good before releasing new firmware in the future!! Wink

Now: C-300 and WDTVLive

Past: A-110 / C-200 / AppleTV 2 / A-300

Router: Zyxel P-2812HNU-F1 (Switch: Zyxel GS-105B)

NAS: QNAP TS-119 PII

Hi, I think this is really strange, I updated yesterday and all worked like a charm.
Even a BD50 streams without any hick-ups! like it did with the previous firmware. I'm using a Dlink- DIR-825. Gigabit connection.

The only thing I encountered was a concert of Adele which worked in previous FW with video but not with DTS-HD.....guess what, now with new FW the video is gone and the DTS-HD is fine....pffff. I don't even have the OSD of the PCH at that time. Now the really strange thing: when I fast forward in double speed, I do have picture and OSD????
My V8 which I have upstairs does it without a problem....
I did try different video settings on the A300 but did't help.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks.
