[NMJ v2] New A300 Owner, Don't Understand NMJ Database

New A300 Owner, Don't Understand NMJ Database
I've owned an A110 for a long time, just got my A300 today. I previously (with the A110) used to use YAMJ, update and everything worked fairly slick.

I am mapping from my A300 to the NAS to access my Movies, TV Shows, etc. I won't be copying or storing any of the media directly on the A300

I setup the NMJ to my Movie and TV Shares, let it scan and do it's thing to get the coverart and NFO's, etc. It ran a long time and I can see and play those just fine on the A300, no issues.

Now on my NAS, I see an "nmj_database" folder that was created today, but in Win7, when I click on it, I get an "Access is Denied".

I have a 100 GB SATA Drive that I installed in the A300, installed the NMT Apps too, and would really prefer the "nmj_database" folder lived over there instead of on my NAS.

I would like to use one of the Windows NMJ Editors to do some clean up on some of my movies, get the correct Coverart, etc, but since I can't open the nmj_database folder, I can get to the db...

I don't understand what i'm doing!
HELP!

RE: New A300 Owner, Don't Understand NMJ Database
I'm very new here but I can maybe provide share some info. chris57 mentioned the following to me:
Quote:If you make your network share Read Only then the NMJ Jukebox folder will b e created at the location of the NMT Apps. If you let the A300 have write Access then it will create the jukebox folder at the network share.

So I would assume your A-300 has Write access to your Movie and TV Show shares.
I'm assuming if you delete the database and make the access Read only, you should be able to redo the process resulting in the DB being created locally as desired.
(I have no idea whether moving the DB manually is a viable option...)

Yes and Yes...

My NAS, which is UNRAID was completely open, public security on the SMB Shares and no users created. I had to create a "Popcorn" user to even get the A300 to connect to it (which I never had to do with my A110).

So I deleted the old NMJ Database (from the NMJ interface on the A300). The "nmj_database" folder disappeared from my NAS Share. I change the rights for my "Popcorn" user to Read Only, recreated the NMJ thing and it did appear to create the database folder on the internal hard-drive on the NMJ now.

Now I need to go figure out how to get the NMJ Toolbox thing connected

And why NMJ developers cannot make it by default to write database on local drive?

RE: New A300 Owner, Don't Understand NMJ Database
Perhaps because not everyone has a local drive.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

and this is something like add few lines of code and voila Wink
I mean something like that:
if "internal_hdd_ present" then ask user about database_location else create_database_at_share_directory
Rolleyes
few minutes of work and so many happy and grateful users here Angle

I can understand why you would want it, but I'm not exactly sure 2 people in a small thread would equal "so many happy and grateful users".

RE: New A300 Owner, Don't Understand NMJ Database
It was requested at the time by owners that the database be saved at the location scanned and not anywhere else. It is only for Read Only shares that it will create it on the local storage if present.

However if they introduce an ability to scan and aggregate databases then that should be saved locally. We've been asking for this for ... well it must be nearly years by now.Undecided
