Audio reverb on avi file
Hi,
I'm having troubles with some .avi files that play perfectly on my laptop (using vlc and windows media player) but playing it on my PCH C-200 results in a stuttering\reverbering audio. It's just impossible to even understand the speech. Here there is an avinaptic analisys of the file: [ About file ] Name: prova.avi Date: Sat, 07 Jul 2012 15:41:58 +0200 Size: 366,747,648 bytes (349.757813 MiB) [ Magic ] File type: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI, 480 x 272, 25.00 fps, video: DivX 5, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (stereo, 22050 Hz) [ Generic infos ] Duration: 00:45:22 (2722.08 s) Container: AVI OpenDML AVI has index: Yes Total tracks: 2 Track nr. 0: video Track nr. 1: audio ISFT: VirtualDubMod 1.5.4.1 (build 2178/release) Junk: VirtualDubMod build 2178/release [ Relevant data ] Resolution: 480 x 272 Width: multiple of 32 Height: multiple of 16 Average DRF: 2.59819 Standard deviation: 0.490264 Std. dev. weighted mean: 0.488927 [ Video track ] FourCC: divx/DX50 Resolution: 480 x 272 Frame aspect ratio: 30:17 = 1.764706 (~16:9) Pixel aspect ratio: 1:1 = 1 Display aspect ratio: 30:17 = 1.764706 (~16:9) Framerate: 25 fps Total frames: 68,052 Stream size: 345,681,538 bytes (329.667604 MiB) Bitrate: 1015.933516 kbps Qf: 0.311254 Key frames: 916 (0; 250; 367; 617; 773; ... 67936) Null frames: 0 Min key int: 1 Max key int: 250 Avg key int: 74.292576 Delay: 0 ms [ Audio track ] Audio tag: 0x55 (MP3) Channels: 2 Bitrate: 49.624 kbps VBR Chunks: 104,205 Stream size: 16,884,116 bytes (16.101948 MiB) Bitstream type (bs): MPEG-2 Layer III Encoder (bs): LAME3.96r Frames (bs): 104,205 Duration (bs): 00:45:22 (2722.089796 s) Chunk-aligned (bs): Yes Bitrate (bs): 49.62104 kbps VBR Sampling frequency (bs): 22050 Hz Mode (bs): joint stereo Padding (bs): No Emphasis (bs): none Preload: 522 ms Max A/V diff: 548 ms Delay: 0 ms [ Video bitstream ] Bitstream type: MPEG-4 Part 2 User data: DivX503b1338 Packed bitstream: No QPel: No GMC: No Interlaced: No Aspect ratio: Square pixels Quant type: H.263 Total frames: 68,052 Drop/delay frames: 0 Corrupt frames: 0 I-VOPs: 916 ( 1.346 %) P-VOPs: 67136 ( 98.654 %) #################### B-VOPs: 0 ( 0.000 %) S-VOPs: 0 ( 0.000 %) N-VOPs: 0 ( 0.000 %) [ DRF analysis ] average DRF: 2.59819 standard deviation: 0.490264 max DRF: 3 DRF<2: 0 ( 0.000 %) DRF=2: 27344 ( 40.181 %) ######## DRF=3: 40708 ( 59.819 %) ############ DRF>3: 0 ( 0.000 %) I-VOPs average DRF: 2.290393 I-VOPs std. deviation: 0.453944 I-VOPs max DRF: 3 P-VOPs average DRF: 2.602389 P-VOPs std. deviation: 0.489404 P-VOPs max DRF: 3 [ Profile compliancy ] Selected profile: MTK PAL 6000 Resolution: Ok Framerate: Ok Min buffer fill: 80% This report was created by AVInaptic (18-12-2011) on 16-07-2012 19:36:26 Do you have idea of what's wrong and how can i fix it ? RE: Audio reverb on avi file
You should tell us more about your setup.
My guess is that you are listening to sound simultaneously from TV speakers and separate speakers connected through AV receiver or some other separate speaker setup. This setup can cause a slight delay in sound coming from TV or speakers and resulting effect would sound similar to reverberation. If my guess is right then simply turn off one of the sound sources. |

RE: Audio reverb on avi file
No, it's not like that. It's like an heavy stuttering it goes like sound-pause-sound-pause-sound-pause.
I think after some work that the problem is this one: Sampling rate : 22.05 KHz I have lot's of avi files and everyone plays perfect except those with this sampling rate. I have a doubt, may it be my sound system ? The audio is sent to it via HDMI in passthrought. The sound system is a: Sony RHT-G950 EDIT: it's not my sound system, i've tried with another TV and excluding it and the problem still there. I've also tried to set all audio to downmix in setup and same issue. So i'm sure it's a PCH problem. EDIT2: remuxing it with handbrake "fixes" the problem. I still don't get why it doesn't work ![]() EDIT3: it's not even a PCH issue, Audio over HDMI can't have a sample rate minor of 32k, so 22 won't play over HDMI. You need to upsample them. The only thing that PCH can do it's to upsample it on the fly. EDIT4: The funny thing is that this audio works: Audio ID : 2 Format : AAC Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Format profile : LC Codec ID : A_AAC Duration : 45mn 22s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel positions : Front: L R Sampling rate : 22.05 KHz Compression mode : Lossy Default : Yes Forced : No Wich is the same as above reencoded. I don't get why lol. Any idea ? |

RE: Audio reverb on avi file
The solution is going to be the same for your existing files..
Perhaps the long term solution should be how your getting these files in the first place. If your getting files that are always problematic, then perhaps avoiding certain release groups or looking for different formats would improve your experience. |
