YAMJ on C300

After using YAMJ with much pleasure on my A110, i think i want it on my C300 now instead of NMJ, like the overview of the yamj way more.

But, got some questions before i do.

*Do i install yamj in the same way i did on the a110?

*is/where is it possible to change to usbname to connect yamj to, i got several HD's, and want this one to be called "dvd" instead of USB_DISK_A1 to keep it simpeler for my wife and kids.

*Is it possible to leave my usb-drive connected to the C300 when updating so i don't have to connect the drive to my laptop everytime i get new movies? Cause i want to store my usbdrive behind the tv-cabinet.

first thing first. In order to use yamj on the 300 series you have to use the eversion skin html skins dont work eversion is flash based you set it up the same as any skin in yamj,

The name of the usb drive can be whatever you want it to be connect to to your pc and give it a label when you connect it to the pch it will use the label name.

Yes you can use the USB-drive connected but you will also need a usb stick or small internal drive to run NMT apps which will enable ftp server so you can see the drive over the network.

Eversion skin will not be a problem. Will dl it and put it in.

Problem now is, got the usb connected, and want to edit the settings with the yamj gui configurator, but u can only choose from pre-named disknames, and the folder pointed to scan, is over the network, wich doesn't seem to be supported by the gui.

NMT apps are on a usbstick. ftp server is running, can see the drive over the network.


Do i need to do a "first install" of yamj trough my laptop, or can i set it up while connected to the pch?

yamj does not run from your pch. it runs as needed from your computer/nas/whatever you set it up on that has the power to run it, the pch cannot. Yamj writes out a jukebox that can be stored anywhere you want and that jukebox is what the pch runs.

by drive over the network, do you mean when you ftp in? you'll also need access for yamj to see the drive and that's usually done with samba server or nfs server and mapping the drive to a drive letter on you computer for non-ftp access to it.

Ok, so everytime i need to scan the files to update yamj, i will have to connect my hd to my laptop?

Yamj just needs read access to the media files. that can be connect up the drive to the computer or setup nfs/samba server so yamj can access it over the network

hm ok. So it's possible to let the hd connected to the pch, and hit MyYamj once a while on my laptop when i have new movies. Gonna try to get this working. tnx.

yeah it's pretty simple, you have nmt apps with the usb stick, assume your windows it's just enabling samba server on the pch and then you can map a drive letter to the drive via the network.

Yeah, got the drive mapped, gonna look into it.
So, just put yamj on my laptop, and with the gui i point the mapped drive to scan it, and then save the jukebox of yamj to my usb drive where the movies are, and i can update it trough the network with my laptop?

How do i point the drive "usb-attached to nmt", have to choose between USB and SATA disks in the gui, but mine is called "dvd".

After that i d/l the yamj app and point the jukebox in the app, i can open the jukebox with the app, right?

the gui is a little misleading and out of date..

If your pointing to the whole drive you just mapped (let's call it m:\ for this example).. and your drive has a volume label called dvd then what I would do is:

- browse to m:\
- click the pc path option (the bottom on) and click ok on the warning that comes up.
- in the box directly below the selections where the player/nmt path is showing, delete the path that is there and replace it with file:///dvd or ev-usb://dvd
- if you browse to a folder on m:\ you need to add the exact rest of path to the player path but use / for the \

file:///name of drive works for all drives where you gave it a volume label that doesn't match the syabas generic name format. the ev-usb://name of drive is an eversion thing that does almost the same but helps correct for problems with capital letters. the file:/// version is more universal if other non-eversion flash skins come out in the future.
