RE: no audio from this file dont know why
yeah that should play fine on a 300 series.

To help troubleshoot where the problem is, download mkclean: http://www.matroska.org/downloads/mkclean.html

There are 2 tools in the download. mkclean does a simple "repair" of an mkv file that might allow it to play. mkWDclean does a intensive "repair" of the file so the original WDTV could play it. This will help us figure out where the problem is and what options there might be to get them working now or report a bug correctly.

Edited too add: the versions of some software used to make that file do appear to be pretty old, that shouldn't stop it from working but does stand out to versions of mkv tools with bugs in those tools causing things like this.

RE: no audio from this file dont know why
mkclean is a command line tool to clean and optimize Matroska files that have
already been muxed.

It currently reorders elements in an optimum way for local and web use.
It also removes elements not found in the Matroska specs and the extra Meta
Seek list of Clusters that some program add to their file.

so copy moviename.mkv to the folder with mkclean.
run CMD from the Start search line.
on the command prompt go to the folder with mkclean and the movie you want to fix. something like......... cd C:\Users\yourname\Downloads\mkclean-win32.v0.8.6 the cd is change to directory(folder) command you need to type.

when you are there you will see C:\Users\yourname\Downloads\mkclean-win32.v0.8.6 _ on the blinking cursor you type: mkclean moviename.mkv

when its done close the window

copy moviename.mkv back to where you can play it on the 300... yes overwrite the old one.

RE: no audio from this file dont know why
Found this on the CNET review:-
Quote:Like nearly every other sound bar HTIB, the HT-CT150 only supports standard Dolby and DTS decoding. In our opinion that's not a major loss, as the superior sonic fidelity of high-resolution soundtracks like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio is likely to be lost on a single speaker system like the HT-CT150.

It's not TrueHD though and it is stereo not multi-channel as well.

You dont have your setup as follows do you:
NMT > HDMI > TV > HDMI > SoundBar

As most TV's will not passthrough the sound.

That would account for why downmix works and passthrough not.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

RE: no audio from this file dont know why
Let me recapp:

Your soundbar is used as a HDMI-repeater and supports Dolby 5.1 surround
It gives no sound when a file containing Dolby 2.0 is played, in passthrough mode.

questions:
Does it play other files with Dolby 5.1?
Do you have another file with Dolby 2.0 to test? Preferably not from the same source, as I guess all of their releases are Dolby 2.0.

It seems like the soundbar HDMI does not support Dolby 2.0

Did you try connecting the SPDIF output of the 300 to one of the soundbars SPDIF input to see if it that works? (Be sure to enable passthrough again).

If that works, you could try matching the SPDIF input to the HDMI input you are using.
I'm not sure if that is possible in the soundbars setup, but if it is, you can use that as a workaround.
