Accessing Playon software on PCH C200 fails!

I am having trouble with my Playon software via my PCH C200. I start playing my selected show or clip and it plays for 10 sec and then just stops. I have tried to access it via my WDM Player and that works fine. My only complaint with my PCH C200 in general is dropped connections, can't access server etc. Basically everything Internet related is hit or miss. I do have my connection on 10/100. Can anyone offer some tips on what could be wrong. I appreciate any help. Thanks

Look like a plain network issue with little to do with playon.
what is the status for viewing Youtube in the apps at HD?

If that is also shaky then check your RWIN setting first..... search forum on RWIN

I think you maybe on to something. I am just not happy with the internet/network connection on my PCH C200 in general. There is too many drop outs, server not found etc. Playon works perfect on my WD TV Live. I have attached a copy of my ping test and speed test results. Can you give me a post that tells me more about RWIN setting. Do I adjust this on my computer or PCH.

I have Boost Plus from Cablevision and an ASUS RT-N56U Wireless Router. My PCH is directly connected to my Asus Router. The speed test results tell me that there should not be a problem streaming.

Appreciate any additional help.

I did some reading up on RWIN and changed my setting. I logged into to my PCH using Putty and entered pflash set tcp_recv_mem 131070. Then I rebooted my PCH. Unfortunately this did not change my ability to use Playon without the video stopping shortly after starting. I have my network setting to 10/100 as when I try Auto I do not even get an IP address. Any other ideas?

That setting will have the opposite effect on the 200 series. There are big differences in this area between the 2 chipset generations.

If your setup as 10/100, switching around the tcp receive (it's the rwin setting / 3) isn't going to have any effect. Do you even know roughly what type of speeds your setting on the network port now? have you tried any copies to/from the pch?

I did not realize that specific setting was only for the 300 series. I just transferred a file from my Laptop to the HD of the PCH and was getting 5 mbps transfer speeds on a 5 GB File. Do you have any suggestions for my RWIN setting or my Playon Problem I am experiencing? Thanks

generally auto network and 0 for tcp receive appear to work best for this type of streamed content. You need to reboot in between different settings to ensure they take effect.

to really recommend a setting, I need an idea what types of speeds it working at now. There's a few factors in play here because there could actually be a duplex or setting on the playon computer that would help also.

I tried to change my PCH to Auto network and 0, however it does not pick up on an IP after doing this. I have tried setting wired IP to Manual and adding in my own IP configuration, but this does not work. I have rebooted and tried everything. Is there another way to get Auto network to work or some other other tweak to perform. I think the issue is the relationship bw my PCH Firmware & Playon. I wasn't having this much trouble on previous firmware. I can play a youtube video and stream other Apps without any problem which suggests that my network connection is fine. I have the same set up with my WD TV Live and that plays all Playon content without any problems. I find it hard to believe that Sybase would drop the ball on US users wanting playon working and could not come up with a fix. I am willing to spend the time working through this issue and hope some people have had more luck solving this issue. Thanks for the help and let me know what other information you need.

If every reply is going to be mostly drama, my desire to help is going to quickly end. I don't really care how your other player works, if your other player was all that and bag of chips you wouldn't be on here trying to get this to work.

When auto doesn't work, It always comes down to brand switch/router (usually dlink) or it's one of the green switches. Based on your description so far, my guess is your using dlink brand? It really doesn't matter in this case because we can try to get 10/100 working right.

The last couple months, it's been discovered that a lot of players might have corrupted firmware especially players that have been around awhile and through a couple updates. Many users are fixing all types of only 1 person has it bugs by doing a full firmware recovery and then upgrading again. My suggestion is to fix do that, write down your settings it will wipe them out on you and let's rule out corrupted firmware before spending days with no possible way to make it work.

Sorry I was a little miffed in my last post. I love my PCH C200 and think it is completely in a league of it's own when comparing to other media players. The Playon software is important to my set up and I really would like to get it working. I appreciate all the help this forum provides and people taking the time to respond and help each other.

MY router is ASUS RT-N56U. I will follow the link you sent me on recovering firmware and let you know how I go.

Do I need to change the firmware on my NMT to match the recovery firmware. I think this is only if I stay with the recovery firmware and do not upgrade to the RC new firmware. Should I remove my WD 3TB storage device from the PCH while doing all of this. Should I try Playon once I do the initial recovery before proceeding to the new firmware again? Thanks for the help.

Yes, most firmwares do have different nmt versions with them.. If you go all the way back to recovery which is the 2011 firmware then you probably need to downgrade nmt. I'm really not sure how to do that i'll need to recommend you post a separate thread on that to get more attention and help if needed.

I performed the recovery Firmware and did the factory settings reset and reboot. Then tried playon and had the same problem. I also returned the firmware to C-200 Public RC [6 July 2012, but ran into the same problem. There is no way that Auto network setting works as it does not bring up an IP. I am just leaving it on 10/100 as at least that gives me an IP address. What about my Asus router? Could that be causing some issues with playon. Any other streaming works fine (Youtube App) or streaming video from one of my computers. Thanks for the help and let me know if you have any other suggestions.

I gave up on trying it also stops a few seconds into playing from playon
I use my google tv to use playon

For people that use and really like Playon it is a real shame that it does not work properly on the PCH. It is hard to understand as the PCH seems so much more advanced that some other devices, but has this issue. I am left with having to use my WD LIve for Playon. Playon was never perfect with PCH, but at least it was usable with previous firmware. Now on the latest firmware I cannot play anything as it stops playing after 3 sec. Hopefully a miracle happens and they will fix this issue. Thanks for your reply.

have you reached out to playon to see if it's something on their side? I know it will sound strange but in talking with lundman, the upnp support in devices is all very different with tons of different bugs. the dnla stack in the pches was updated and it could be that playon treats the popcorn hour differently because of the old stack and they need to update their profile for it.
