A300 - NMJ for multiple networked drives/folders?
I'm moving from an 110 to an A300 and can't seem to figure out how to get all my drives to be seen and scanned from the same NMJ. With the 110 I could use the myihome app to sort all of my drives/movies, but this seems much more complicated.
Here's my setup; Windows 7 64bit Some hdd's in pc, some in NAS (e-sata) all drives show up on pc in "my computer" A300 via cat5 LAN 16gb thumb drive in the A300 for apps I can see the folders I need by sharing them on the pc, but it's a lot of work getting them all with correct permissions. Is it really this hard with the newer A300? thanks in advance! |

RE: A300 - NMJ for multiple networked drives/folders?
If you did shares on the 100 and not myihome it would have been the same thing so it's not harder than it was before, just different for you.
It's hard to tell from your description if all your drives are in the same windows machine. If they are all shared by the windows machine, I recommend making a single share on the windows machine. Use mklink to setup junctions in that share pointed to each drive. On the pch, just setup the single share and inside it, each drive will look like a folder and nmj will be just fine with that layout. If the esata box is actually a separate nas that the pch connects directly to then I recommend the method where you make a single folder on your nmt drive and use the start_app to add in mount commands to mount all the shares on boot. Basically it makes all the shares look like folders on the nmt drive to the player. In the nmj guides subforum is a thread about multiple disc single jukeboxes with more info on doing this way. |

RE: A300 - NMJ for multiple networked drives/folders?
Thanks for the reply. The esata box is connected to the pc and all 5 drives in it show up in windows.
I almost have it, but every subfolder that I have inside the main share folder (created with mklink) shows no content. I'm having trouble getting the subfolders to show any content at all. If I create new shares with mklink, they show up and have content but NMJ won't combine them at that point. Any ideas? |

RE: A300 - NMJ for multiple networked drives/folders?
Sorry, I forgot to mention with junctions you need to make sure you add the username your connecting to the share as on both the junction itself and the folder that the junction ponits too. Just right click->properties and add the user to the security access with appropriate rights that you want.
so 3 places for security in that setup: 1: the normal share security 2: the junction 3: the folder/drive the junction points to. |

You make it sound simple. I added "Everyone" to the user groups & gave it full access. That's what I've been doing on the first share, but the subfolder still shows no content. I'm at a loss for ideas now.

RE: A300 - NMJ for multiple networked drives/folders?
yes, I can't believe this is so difficult to link up multiple drives so that the NMJ can see them all. With the old myihome app, it made it super easy.
