I did follow the instructions. I did place the jumper on the pins and I did get the recovery firmware installed.
That's where I'm stuck. It won't let me update to the latest. I've tried via USB and on-line. No dice. Quote:Now my only other thought here is perhaps you did something with the unit that your not mentioning to us. The only modification that was made to my unit was to install a hard drive when I first purchased it. Other than that, I've updated firmwares when available and downgraded them when the quality was less than desirable. I guess I should have been content with using a f/w that was well over a year old instead of doing what was recommended here. My bad. |

This is the name of the file that contained the recovery bin;
A200_recovery_091114.zip Maybe there is a different one? I have just tried updating to a bunch of difference f/w and it is updating to 02-02-100428-19-POP-411-000. The other's gave me the same error. What is step stone firmware? |

a stepstone is when you need a firmware before you flash another. kinda like it bridges a gap.

The important thing is you got the firmware wiped and back up to speed, has the quality and stability improved?

It has only locked up once since last night. NMJ is much more responsive and it has played every video I have tried. There are still problems with networking and the NFS connections appear to drop. These things never happened with last year's firmware so I'm still likely to go back to that one again. Thank you to you and halfelite for your help with this. |

Open a thread in the 200 or networking forums.. I'm not really sure what you mean by appear to drop and maybe it's something simple to adjust. It is possible your unit has been so sluggish that some settings need to be fine tuned to match. Since this is no longer related to installing the firmware, it should be a different thread

Hangs playing bluray folders after 03-04-120727
Hi!. Sorry for my English...
My A-200 hangs or reset when playing bluray folders with this new firm. The problem is in the last two firms, 03-04-120727 and 03-04-120807. I have returned to 02-04-110519 and all works fine again. I think the problem is the "bluray menus language selection" feature, added in 03-04-120727. I'm sure it worked at least, the first time. I'm from Spain and i was waiting that feature a long time. When the 03-04-120727 go out, i tried it the same day, and i remember i worked, at least one time... but no more... Now i'm in 02-04-110519 again and english menus....

Remember that there is no offical bluray playback of menus for the A series.
So unless you have a backup of your own making with everything removed and the emnu option not rwequiring any java/bd navigation it may not work. Test with the other playback modes. SimpleBD etc. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

No official menu bluray support?
Ok, but.... In the release_notes.txt, from the A-2X0 it says..: ... ... 2. BD/AVCHD/DVD/CDDA - Fixed no signal shown on AVR when DTS set bo downmix and BD navigation set to simpleBD - Fixed playback failure with certain BD files - Fixed failure to scan certain BD movies and causing hang-up - Added BD menu language selection Therefore, official or not, the feature is here, it is public, and it has stopped working..at least to me.. |

I don't know what the audio issue is with the A200 but without volume boost I have to turn my TV's sound level up to 80-90. With other HDMI devices like my PS3 and DVD player I can keep my TV sound level around 30 which is the normal TV sound level. Why does the A200 have such a low sound level through HDMI ? The only way to overcome this is to jack the TV's sound way up above normal Yes I tried the audio trick but the sound is still pretty low. I'm not sure why HDMI sound is that much lower on the PCH when other HDMI devices are not. It wasn't an issue when I had volume boost because I usually kept the PCH sound level to around +10 and that balanced everything out but now volume boost is gone the sound level differences between other devices connected to the TV and PCH is very noticeable. |

Chris57, yes i read it. The bd are full backups, nothing ripped , and in most cases java menus (alien 1 by example) all the menus worked fine with the previous firm.
I have updated again the pc-200 to try the simple navigation, and now, full menus works again!!..... Some java cache trash in the usb stick? |
