Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
Been racking my brains and checking every post I can get my hands on but still no solution

Here is my basic set up

Router (not yet connected to Internet)
Onkyo av receiver (plugged into router)
A300 (plugged into router)
Synology Nas (plugged into router)
Samsung led (connected to onkyo via hdmi)

Have tried proper setup of both a300 and synology items as follows:

On synology via DSM:

1. a300 set up as a user with full privileges, no password
2. have set up shared folder for my "media" with full privileges (including enabling Nfs). Under NSF have created the client 192.168.1.* (namely the ip address of the synology NFs)

On a300

1. Network share >add share>

Protocol NFS
ip/host: 192.168.1.7. (ip a address of synology )
Shared folder: volume1/media
Share name: Media
User: blank
Password: blank ( no passwords used whe setting up user (a300)

So that's that

When I go to "network bowser" and click on "media", I keep getting "Share doesn't exist".......Why?

Some more background, whe I click on
1. " network browser>NFS Servers" I get the ip address (only) of the a300 but when I click on this I get the following error message (ERR 912) and system cannot proceed with request

2 " network browser>Workgroup" I get the "a300" (must be the user user up). When I click thru I get my usb drive (with my nmt apps on it) and a file called "share" (??????). When I click on this it asks for user/password but nothing I insert works.

Heeeelllllppppp please

RE: Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
Have a read of this:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._NAS_setup

You will need to look at your NFS privileges as you should see the NFS server on the Synology, the Synology ip should be visible. Turn OFF the NMT Apps NFS server whilst you get this working.

Turn OFF the NMT Apps SMB server whilst you get SMB sharing sorted.

Remember the NMT Apps are to share/serve files on your NMT to other devices, not the other way. So whilst trying to connect to your NAS turn them OFF in NMT Apps.

Check out your Synology DSM settings and also when you created the Shared Folder make sure that you check the folder permissions and also the User Permissions in DSM, they both need to be set correctly.

Finally if you have set a user called 'A300' then change the devicename in Settings > NMT Applications to 'A300' if it is the default PCH-A300.

You need to enter A300 or the ip for the User name and then leave the password blank. Why not set a password like 1234 as it looks for one and can remember it.

RE: Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
Thanks

I just delete everything I did before and started from scratch. Although I used the link before, I tried again. I named everything a300 as well (including on th NMt app page (changed from workgroup)). Even shut down NFS/samba servers on this page as well.

Did everything I needed to right up and when i get to "How-to create SMB and NFS...between your Synology & NMT". I hit browse share and the NMT puts up "unable to access server"

This what I got to last time.

Thanks again

RE: Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
You did what to your workgroup setting!! If your network workgroup is workgroup then you cannot just enter a random a300 as your workgroup.

You are missing a lot of network knowledge. Your workgroup is the same on all of your network devices, so you should NEVER just decide to change it unless you change each and every device on your network. With a different workgroup it'll never connect!

Here's a few more good reads for you:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...work_Share
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._Static_IP

What did you enter for user and password?

If you did not use A300 for your user and a password then it wont connect either.

You seem to be jumping around aimlessly changing everything and expecting it to connect. First understand how a network works and what the terminology means in a network.

RE: Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
Not aimlessley but was trying to make sure each connection name matched. Did so based in your sexond to last para above.

Fyi In my earlier attempt I did not change the samba name to a300 and kept it as workgroup and also didn't work but will t a few steps back and try again and let you know.

So basically what you are saying is that: on NMT the device name stays "a300" and samba workgroup stays as workgroup? And on NAS win/Mac/NFs the workgroup should remain as "workgroup"

The strange thing is I followed directional your initial link a few months back ANSI connected no problem but since I moved houses and reset up the system I am at this stage

Thanks again and will let u know

RE: Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
I seem to have the same problemn with my A210 and Synology NAS after upgrading the NMT to latest firmware. I've tried a lot, but just are not able to connect through SAMBA anymore. For the record, everything was working fine before, but now I get the message "unable to resolve host name" when clicking my share with the NAS.

Also through the network browser I can't see any files, while I do see the "DISKSTATION" - I get the same message.

As a little check I shared some folders of my PC and that worked fine. Seems to be some problem between the NAS and the NMT.

BTW: this one seems very similar too: showthread.php?tid=62767 (sorry, I can't post any links because I'm a noob...LOL)

If anyone has any ideas, they would be very welcome!
Cheers

RE: Cannot connect to my NAS (synology)
OK, got that sorted. Took a couple of hours, but it's back up and running. I don't know if it'll be of much help to you styopa, but I rolled back 2 firmware upgrades. Now I'm running May 2011 firmware and everything is fine again.

Do you know how to activate the "Guest" on a QNAP ?
I have my movie in /Qmultimedia/MOVIES/FILMS/, i add this in samba in my A300 with a user A300/mdp but i can't scan. I just can navigate in my folder.
