No HDMI connection
I have received a new PCH A-300 but when I connect my HDMI cable from the PCH to my Sony Television then I can't see anything and the screen stays black. When I connect a cable to the CVBS port of the PCH then it works. I have tried to use a different HDMI cable and I have set the output to 1080p24 and 1080p50. Is there a setting that I must change or do I have a hardware failure?

RE: No HDMI connection
What model Sony TV do you have?
Connect the A300 to the TV via HDMI and make sure that your TV is on the correct HDMI AV channel. Its not like SCART it does not change automatically. Then turn ON the A300. Wait and keep a watch on exactly what is displayed. Nothing there then at trhe front of the unit you'll see a pinhole for Reset. Press that with something like a straightened paper clip and watch as the player should cycle through different HDMI display modes. When it finds on that your TV can display it should select and display. Your settings should be :- Video Output: 1080p24 or 1080p/50 Frameratesync: 24p/PAL/NTSC However if you only have a HDReady as opposed to a FullHD 1920x1080 pixel TV setting it to 1080p will cause nothing to be displayed. So you should use: Video Output: 1080i/50 or 720/50 Frameratesync: PAL/NTSC If you have a USA bought TV then unlike other TV sets they do not display both PAL and NTSC. So you have to drop 60 and NTSC from any settings. Read you TV manual and it will tell you what inputs it supports and whethger it has 24p aka True Cinema or other marketing terms. As well as swopping out the cable, swop HDMI sockets on your TV, try a different TV. Occasionally there can be a bad HDMI socket though. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: No HDMI connection
I have a Sony KDL-46W5500 full HD display. I have tried another HDMI cable, different display (samsung), change different video outputs, and reset the PCH with the paperclip.
I think there is an issue with the HDMI socket. I am change the A-300 next week. |

RE: No HDMI connection
Sounds like it, get it changed out is the best option and will take away any worries for the future.
