Could you not, in theory, point it to an A-400 for the jukebox (assuming that both are the same) but tell it you are controlling your C-200 so it gets the 'play' instruction instead?

Granted, it has seemingly not been engineered that way, but it might be a relatively easy way to add the same interface across the entire product family. Have one A-400 act as the master jukebox server and the other as slaves.

In theory anything is possible..

I know the limitation is the api and database version in the 200s with nmj v1 so in theory it could work once nmjv2 is in.. but reading the fine print, FREE FOR A400 OWNERS. Means to me that 200 and 300 series owners could pay for it. I'm surprised more money from 200 only owners isn't enough modivation to make it work.

Of course, anyone could have made a remote like this for a long long time. diamond did but they made it a driver for the c4 control system. So someone wanting to work on a new app, I think there's a collection of non-tablet and 200 series users who would probably pay a couple for it.

I`m just sorry but this sounds not qualified!

There should be a way, at least for 3rd party iOS/Android developers, to create a App which work even with the PCH 200 series, for which we paid a lot of money and (until problems still existing) we will not buying a new one just because this feature!

Streaming by uPnPAV or SMB is already possible with the 200 series, so what should be the problem with the A/C200 Sigma SoC to stream media to Tablets running iOS or Android?

The Decoding is part of the Tablet/PC and NOT done on the PCH, or am I wrong?

Even Technisat can realize this with their more simple STI7105 SoC on used in their STBs!

I guess this is only a sales policy, making the 300/400 more attractive!

There is nothing stopping a 3rd party dev from making this and never has been. You can directly talk to the same api that the flash tv app does, this new app will be and it's completely documented on the private dev support site.

And if anything is missing, then you can put some cgi or php script onto the pch to read the db no problem.

not an issue EXCEPT if you need the video transcribe like the limited ipad support has, then the pch isn't powerful enough to do this. Now with llink, if the video just needs a container change and not transcoding, it can do that and the pch is powerful enough to on the fly remux.

Yes, you are correct, this is just for marketing reasons... But let me tell you, it worked... only the wrong way!!!! Me and my 3 friends that bought the original c300 and the a200 WILL NOT BUY SYABAS AGAIN... NEVER!!!

why? some may ask...
because its really comercial and marketing reasons that we (owners of the a200) will not be receiving a 2nd screen navigation app!
so syabas say that the a200 is not powerfull enough... not enought power to feed a 2nd screen navigation app? you got to be kidding...
I dare you to say exactly what kind of power is needed for that... but wait, i'll try to telll all of us what power its needed to drive this app... almost none!!!

The 2nd screen navigator doesn't need "much power".. it only needs to send files thru the LAN and accept comands/files thru the LAN.. what power is need for that? none that the a200 doesn't have..

So i explain how the app works.

- the app contacts via wifi -> router -> LAN -> a200

- the a200 send ok to the app.

- the a200 sends a number of films/music/tvseries that has in his database

- the app receives JUST THE NUMBER of films/music/tvseries and if its number is different from the previous session then the a200 will upload the new files that are new to the tablet app. These files aren't big neither complicated, they contain the covers, posters, images and banners for the film/music/tv, this is trasmited quite rapidly but speed would never be a issue here because the tablet app will wait the time it needs to sync the database, like xbmc remote for example...

(^^ THIS COULD BE DONE IN A DIFFERENT WAY, LIKE THIS ::
Another way to do ^^ is have the tablet app search the covers, posters, images and banners... the a200 would only trasmit the name of the file and then the tablet app would do the data sniffing itself.. that way ALL THE A200 WOULD NEED TO DO IS SEND FILENAMES!!!


- because the films/music/tv database is now synced between the a200 and the app then the tablet app is WHAT DOES ALL THE WORK FROM NOW!! No more POWER on the a200 side needed!!!

- The user then uses the tablet app to select and travel thru content withouy any needed comunication between the a200 and the app. Only when its need to play/select some content will the app send a small notification command to the a200 notifying it that its time to play. The tablet app then sends the path of the content and the a200 will play that content.


So where is the power needed on the a200??????
Even my first spectrum zx48kb could do this if it has the periferials..
AND.. The A200 already has a app for remote control, so if it handles that then i'm sure it handles this system too.. Totally sure!!!

If a second screen navigator app doesn't appear for android and ios I will never buy syabas again, and i will do my best to enlighten potential syabas users of this tactics that syabas is pulling on us..

Looks pretty good, but $20 for the iPad app is too much to me. I would buy it at $10 bucks.

What if enough 200 owners committed to paying a developer a nominal amount each ?
Obviously it would have to be worth their while.
I wouldn't mind paying an amount up front (within reason )
I believe this method has been used to put electronic goods into production.
Can't see that programming would be anywhere near as costly.

Must be plenty of more than qualified people on here who would be glad of the extra bunce !
