Won't play any files?

I've had two A-100 setup for years running against my QNAP NAS with movie shares and yamj setup. One of them died so I bought a used A-100. Here's what happened:

1. Before startup I removed the harddrive that was in it
2. I entered the path etc. to my network shares
3. At this moment it played some mkv files with no sound (sound output spidf to receiver) but no avi files.
4. I upgraded firmware to latest and resetted to factory defaults
5. Now it can access my shares and displays the yamj html but plays no movies, a black screen and then pop back to the movie page.
6. Looking at my SMB NAS access logs I see it access html and jpegs etc. but not the actual movie files. (url example: file:///opt/sybhttpd/localhost.drives/NETWORK_SHARE/movies/movie.avi)


Now to the questions:
-Are there some kind of logs on the A-100 that can be accessed?
-Maybe I should manually go back to an earlier firmware?

Note! My other players is running the exact same firmware and it's playing everything.

are you sure you didn't buy a broken used a100?

Of course, could be. But during the few hours I have had it..it did play a file..though I didn't have any sound. But after firmware upgrade..nothing.

Furthermore, when they do break (my own experience), they usually don't start up at all?

Anyway, could one try to downgrade the firmware?

Ok, I tried to play movie files outside of yamj and they play so obviously my two players interpret the paths I have in different ways.

But the other problem remains, I have no audio on the optical out? HDMI audio works though when I turned that on.

Settings: HDMI audio off, Surround 5.1 mode and digital raw for dts and dolby digital. Could it be that the audio output is broken?

Partially solved any way, I forgot the importance of having exactly same names on the pch shares on both players. No audio through spidf but I can use HDMI audio.
