Fans don't run
Hi guys! I've added the 60mm fan to the back of the case and a CPU Fan. Both connected to the labeled connectors on the MB, but when powered up, neither fan runs.

What have I missed?

RE: Fans don't run
Have a read in the 200 series installation/hardware section as this has been posted in there a few times.

Usually its down to the voltage of the fans and incorrect header connections.

Here's one:

RE: Fans don't run
Setting the jumpers to the 12V position solved the issue. But I still can't get the heat sink off the CPU. Any hints?

I had to remove the motherboard when I did mine. And even then you need to be quite forceful to push through the plastic retaining pins from the underside of the board. But be really careful because when they go, if whatever tool you're using crashes into the motherboard you could easily score through a couple of tracks.

RE: Fans don't run
In the morning I'm going to the local computer hardware store (I wish we had a good one here) and look for a different fan idea. I really don't want to yank the MB out and if that's the only way, I'll make other plans. Perhaps a vertical fan blowing across the heat sink will do the job.

RE: Fans don't run
Taking the motherboard out is actually pretty easy. Just the screws on the board itself and those on the back panel if I remember correctly.

If you have an easy plan B then I'd certainly go that route first though. I just got a big Zalman passive chip cooler and that solved all my thermal problems in one fell swoop.

The plastic pins need to be accessed from beneath. All you have to do is to squeeze the pin inwards and at the same time push the pin upwards and they pop out.

What model is that Zalman? Can you show a photo of it attached. Thanks.

On yours maybe! I almost had to resort to cutting mine out; the pins were too big for the holes. I ended up using a replacement set because I didn't want the hassle of ever having to remove the original ones again.

RE: Fans don't run
In the end, I decided to not pull the MB since there were so many options to the fan problem. Below is a peek at how I tied a 80mm fan above the CPU without doing surgery. If I ever need to pull the MB out, I'll most likely change this again, but until that day comes this keeps the CPU VERY cool.
